Green development has become an irresistible international trend.In order to promote the green transformation of our country’s economic and social development,circular economy is an inevitable way.For the purposes of grasping the current development situation and spatial pattern distribution of circular economy in various regions of China,this paper measured the development level of circular economy in 30 provinces in China from 2010 to 2019,and used geographic visualization technology to analyze its spatial evolution characteristics,then further explored the obstacle factors and related influencing factors in the practice of circular economy in each region.First of all,this paper summarized the connotation,significance and evaluation methods of circular economy based on domestic and foreign literature,and constructed a comprehensive index system of circular economy from four dimensions:socioeconomic benefits,resource output efficiency,resource recycling level,and waste pollutant discharge,then the nuclear principal component analysis method was used to calculate the circular economy development level of 30 provinces,autonomous regions and municipalities in China during the period from 2010 to 2019,and the spatial pattern evolution analysis of the measurement results was carried out with the help of Arc GIS software.The results show that: the development of China’s regional circular economy is unbalanced,and the gap between regions is obvious.The measurement level of the eastern region has always been at a high level with a significant advantage,among which Beijing,Shanghai,Tianjin,Zhejiang and Jiangsu are firmly ranked in the top five in terms of circular economy development.However,the measurement levels of remote western region and northeastern region are always low,and the circular economy development rankings of Ningxia and Gansu have been at the bottom for a long time.Then,based on the comprehensive index system of circular economy,this paper further diagnosed the obstacle factors in the development of circular economy and concluded that the resource recycling level subsystem is the obstacle factor system with the largest proportion,and the main obstacle factor indicators for the development of circular economy in each region at this stage are the level of agricultural waste recycling and the output rate of water resources,etc.Finally,using the circular economy development measure index as the explained variable,this paper explored the external factors and driving mechanisms that affect the development and operation of circular economy,and select explanatory variables from seven aspects,including resource endowment,policy environment,capital investment,technological innovation,and population.The panel regression models were established for the sample data of each region,and the results showed that the influencing factors and effects of the circular economy in different regions were different.According to the above research conclusions,this paper puts forward some reasonable suggestions for narrowing the gap in the development level of circular economy among regions in China and improving the development of circular economy.
