Ponkan is a unique Chinese citrus variety that is widely grown in China.It has a rounded appearance and its peel can be made into Chinese herbal medicine,which is the raw material for the traditional Chinese herbal medicine,Chen Pi,and has good economic value.At present,most of the peeling of ponkan is done manually,which is time consuming,inefficient and may cause hygiene problems,and there are very few peeling machines for the complete preservation of ponkan peel.With the rapid development of science and technology and industrial automation,modern manufacturers of ponkan-related products have higher requirements for production efficiency and hygiene,so it is important to design a ponkan peeling mechanism that can preserve the ponkan peel and pulp.This paper analyses the advantages and disadvantages of many peeling mechanisms for citrus fruits at home and abroad,and proposes the use of an underdriven mechanism to peel ponkan,and an adaptive peeling mechanism to reduce the damage to the pulp,based on the need to preserve the integrity of the peel and pulp and to adapt to different sizes of ponkan.(1)By introducing the single open chain superposition method to the stripping mechanism,three topological diagrams and corresponding mechanism sketches are synthesised and the mechanism that meets the design requirements is selected.The drive and transmission methods are analysed and the motion principle is described in detail.(2)The kinematic parameters of the mechanism are modelled and the kinematic and hydrostatic analyses are carried out to determine the position of the end of the mechanism and the motor drive force;the rod length of the mechanism is optimally determined and the reasonableness of the rod length is verified by means of the working space and the maximum distance from the end to the fruit tip.(3)The kinematics,statics and optimised rod length were used to design and select the key components of the peeling mechanism,such as the peeling mechanism detopping spring,suction cup and peeling mechanism drive screw,and strength checks were carried out on the peeling mechanism de-topping spring and peeling mechanism drive screw to verify that they met the strength requirements of the mechanism.(4)The mechanism was modelled in 3D by SolidWorks,and the 3D model was imported into ADAMS for motion simulation to analyse the rotation angle,end displacement and velocity of the rod to verify the feasibility of the mechanism.The final finite element analysis of the key rod was carried out in SolidWorks Simulation,and the strength requirements were verified by stress clouds.
