At this stage,the steel industry has serious overcapacity and fierce competition.In order to survive,steel companies must use scientific production management concepts to improve products’ quality,eliminate waste,and reduce production costs.Through the study of business management models in developed countries,it is found that the lean production model "Toyota Model" that emerged in Japan has high reference value.Firstly,this research has found out the main problems in QP’s lean production through interviews,investigation and observation methods: 5S activities are not highly motivated,formalized,and continuity is insufficient;the lack of full participation in quality management makes it impossible The late discovery of good products results in many defective products,and many reworked and reprocessed products;imperfect production technology causes the problem of frequent poor quality;long-term high frequency of mold changing operations not only causes energy waste,but also affects production efficiency seriously;between production lines uneven load has caused too much intermediate inventory and excessive handling waste;the push-type production method has caused long-term excessive product inventory.In response to these problems,the reasons for the occurrence are analyzed in detail: there are serious barriers,poor communication and coordination between different departments,that resulting in problems that cannot be resolved quickly and completely;lack of effective supervision and incentive systems to maintain improvement results;fewer opportunities for training and re-learning and the skill level of employees is not high;the lack of understanding of lean production theory makes it impossible to make in-depth improvement,and the insufficient attention of the management level makes the improvement become formal.Secondly,based on the core concept of lean production: full participation,continuous improvement,waste elimination,pull production,etc.,based on the experiences and enlightenments of relevant enterprises,and combined with the actual situation of the companies,some specific improvement plans were put forward insights.:Improve the production process to improve the products’ quality;improve the mold change operation process to reduce the number of mold changes and increase production efficiency;optimize the handling system;reduce production costs by setting up a reasonable inventory through the pull production method;strengthen the incentive system,education and supervision system 5S activities,the formation of visual management,to ensure that problems can be found the first time,and continue to solve the problems.Finally,in order to ensure the smooth development of lean production,by reshaping the corporate culture,creating a positive and continuous learning organizational atmosphere,and establishing a learning organization to ensure innovation and development.In the process of combining theories with practice,guiding ideas suitable for QP’s lean production have gradually formed: long-term and continuous development concept;process and system improvement(elimination of waste);people-oriented(respect and challenge them);learning organization(continuous improvement).
