Research On The Impact Of Environmental Tax On Green Innovation In Manufacturing Industry

In recent years,problems such as high resource and energy consumption and heavy environmental bearing pressure have become prominent.Promoting high-quality economic development urgently requires the transformation and upgrading of green innovation in manufacturing industry.As a market-based incentive tool,can environmental tax promote green innovation in manufacturing industry? As an important practice of sustainable development concept,does social responsibility affect the relationship between environmental tax and green innovation? This paper takes A-share manufacturing listed companies from 2011 to 2020 as the research object,analyzes the effect of environmental tax on the green innovation of enterprises by using the fixed effect model,and further studies the moderating effect of corporate social responsibility on this relationship.The results show that,first,environmental tax has a positive impact on the green innovation of manufacturing enterprises,that is,it is beneficial to improve the level of green innovation of manufacturing enterprises.Second,corporate social responsibility plays a positive regulatory role in the relationship between environmental tax and green innovation,that is,the positive impact of environmental tax on green innovation will be enhanced with the improvement of corporate social responsibility.Third,the moderating effect of CSR is realized through the two paths of corporate legitimacy pressure and corporate reputation.The higher the level of corporate legitimacy pressure and the better the corporate reputation,the more significant the incentive effect of environmental tax on green innovation in manufacturing industry.Fourth,The positive moderating effect of CSR is more significant in the sample of non-state enterprises and enterprises in the eastern region.The above conclusions enrich the relevant literature on the influencing factors of enterprise green innovation and the economic consequences of corporate social responsibility,provide policy suggestions for the government on how to improve the level of green innovation in manufacturing industry from the dimension of environmental tax,and provide guidance on how to encourage manufacturing enterprises to improve their green technology innovation ability from the dimension of social responsibility,which is important for adhering to the new development concept,realizing the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality and promoting high-quality economic and social development.
