With the promotion of the 14 th Five-Year Plan and Rural Revitalization Strategy, the rapid economic development of rural areas has followed the surge in the amount of domestic waste in rural areas, resulting in the dilemma of "waste surrounding villages" and causing great pressure on the village living environment. The classification and management of rural domestic waste is a requirement for promoting the sustainability of agriculture and rural areas, and it is also a key link and important content for improving the rural living environment. From the ABC theory,it can be seen that the direct reason for influencing rural residents to participate in the results of domestic waste classification is the willingness of rural residents to participate in domestic waste classification, and as one of the important subjects of domestic waste classification,it is of great significance to study the influencing factors of rural residents’ willingness to participate in domestic waste classification in the preliminary exploration stage of rural domestic waste classification. In this study,482 farming households in Lianyungang City were used as an example, and the questionnaire design based on IMB behavior change theory was carried out to obtain the sample data in three dimensions: information(information access channels, knowledge of information),motivation(policy motivation, facility motivation, environmental motivation),and behavioral skills(operational difficulty, operational cost).Firstly, descriptive analysis was conducted to obtain the overall trend and weight of the sample data;secondly,cross-sectional analysis was conducted between willingness and each factor to explore whether there was a significant difference between willingness and each factor;finally, the correlation variables of each factor were brought into an ordered logistic model for regression analysis to explore the influence of each factor on rural residents’ willingness to separate domesticThe following conclusions were obtained through regression analysis: rural residents’ knowledge of domestic waste sorting information had a significant positive effect on their willingness;information on waste sorting from cell phones and the Internet had a significant negative effect on their willingness to sort;mandatory sorting tasks and the provision of sorting guards had a significant negative effect on rural residents’ willingness to sort domestic waste;rural residents’ perception of the impact of domestic waste sorting on the village environment and the need to participate in domestic waste sorting had a significant positive effect on their willingness to sort;the ease of sorting standards and the time and economic costs of sorting had a significant positive effect on their willingness to sort;training on sorting techniques and the need to participate in complicated sorting procedures had a significant positive effect on their willingness to sort. The need for sorting has a significant positive effect on the willingness to sort;the easy-to-understand standard of sorting and the time and economic cost of sorting have a significant positive effect on the willingness to sort;the participation in the training of sorting technology and the tedious sorting operation steps have a significant negative effect on the willingness to sort.Based on this, the following policy recommendations are proposed:(1)broaden the information channels about domestic waste classification;(2)optimize the way of domestic waste information dissemination;(3)promulgate effective laws and systems related to waste classification;(4)improve the supporting infrastructure for domestic waste classification;(5)improve the environmental protection awareness of rural residents;(6)reduce the operational difficulty of domestic waste classification of rural residents;(7)reduce the operational cost of domestic waste classification of rural residents. |
