| From the middle of the 12 th century,Europe entered the Gothic period,the second most international period of the Middle Ages.The Gothic period is known as the crossroads between the ancient and the modern,the East and the West,and there was a great variety of clothing during this period,of which the cloak was one.The history of cloak can be traced back to the ancient Egyptian period as early as 7400 years ago,and the most prosperous period is the Gothic period.The cloak has been passed down,developed and innovated,and is still active today in the fashion weeks of major brands.Therefore,the study of European cloaks in the Gothic period is of academic value and practical significance.This research is carried out in the following five parts.In the first part,the documentary research method is used to provide an overview of the background and artistic style of the Gothic period and to analyze the profound influence of Gothic art on the artistic characteristics of clothing at that time.The influence is mainly reflected in three aspects: thin,narrow and sharp dress shapes,dress colors with religious connotations,and dress patterns derived from mosaic structures.In the second part,77 pictures of cloaks of the middle and upper classes in Europe during the Gothic period are analyzed for the distribution of artistic characteristics using image analysis,aiming to summarize the artistic characteristics of the most popular cloaks of this period.The study concludes that A-shaped cloaks with red or blue colors and decorated with botanical and floral motifs were very representative of the Gothic period.In the third part,77 pictures of cloaks of the middle and upper classes in Europe during the Gothic period are collected and restored using the style diagram restoration method,with the aim of improving the systematization and visualization of the research sample.In the fourth part,the case study method is applied to analyze the brands with more cloak show pictures in contemporary fashion weeks.518 cloak images were selected as the study sample,aiming to summarize the ideas and inspirations given to cloak design by contemporary clothing brands,as well as the most popular artistic features.The study concludes that the influence of A-shaped black-colored cloaks with patterned designs is great in contemporary times.In the fifth part,the conclusions of the analysis of the artistic characteristics of European cloaks of the Gothic period and contemporary cloaks are combined,and the unique design elements of cloaks are used to carry out innovative practical applications of graduation designs in conjunction with actual and popular trends.This research shows that the cloaks of the middle and upper classes in Gothic Europe carried the cultural connotations of the Gothic period,and their characteristics are rich and have greater research value.In contemporary fashion fashions,the cloak is deeply dynamic,and its artistic features have reference value and significance for future clothing design. |
