| At present,China is in the stage of a deep aging society.Compared with young adults,the elderly has problems such as decreased mobility and weakened cognitive ability,which results from lots of difficulties for traveling.The elderly travel problem has become a new challenge that must be faced in urban management.The concept of the smart city is based on the new generation of Internet technologies and is becoming increasingly mature.Intelligent transportation technologies make the ordinary travel process evolve to intelligent travel,which is a good solution to the elderly travel problem.However,the infrastructure of smart cities is mostly based on the needs of young people,ignoring the difficulties of the elderly.Under such a circumstance,it is necessary to optimize the user experience of traffic travel services.Service design methods should be used to drive the aging of smart city travel systems;thus a safe,healthy,and efficient elderly travel system can be built.Firstly,this study investigated the travel characteristics of the urban elderly in China with questionnaires and summarized the travel characteristics format of the Chinese elderly.Then conducted user interviews to investigate the user experience of elderly travel.In this way,the conflict between the cognitive ability of the elderly and the intelligent travel services was identified.Secondly,the elderly users are subdivided,based on their experience.Both the learning and the use of phone navigation applications were reported.Through teaching research,we found the obstacles for the elderly in navigation learning and explored the possible agingadapted methods of phone applications.The effect of the map forms on the navigation efficiency of the elderly was studied in the eye-tracking experiment;this effect was analyzed from three aspects: task completion,map reconstruction,and cognitive load.From the perspective of proficiency,and sense of direction,there was the discussion of the applicable population of maps,summarizing the optimal form of the navigation application on smartphones.Finally,the aging-adapted and intelligent travel service system was constructed,based on the theoretical basis and experimental research.The design of a smart city elderly travel service system including APP was generated.In this study,the travel characteristics and user studies summarized the factors affecting the smartphone using of the elderly.And developed the widely accepted view that "education is the main factor",pointing out that family support is an important factor for the elderly to learn smartphones in China,which provides a reference for the design of related elderly services.The teaching research and the experimental research help to quantify the evaluation of navigation systems;the evaluation method was put forward from two aspects of learning and using.The study added a relatively new navigation form,which makes up for the lack of wayfinding researches,and can provide a reference for other similar systems. |
