In recent decades,autonomous driving technology has developed rapidly.With the continuous deepening of autonomous driving technology research in the field of transportation,autonomous buses have attracted the attention of researchers and practitioners.Most of the current research focuses on user acceptance,technical capabilities,social impact,and policy impact,and there is still a lack of systematic and comprehensive research in the field of passenger-oriented in-vehicle human-machine interface design.Situation awareness is the awareness that users perceive and understand information through the human-machine interface in the car and the surrounding environment during the process of riding the autonomous bus and making decisions on the next behavior.The research on the human-machine interface of autonomous buses based on situation awareness will help users to perceive and process information efficiently when riding,improve the user’s riding experience and sense of trust,and help to further improve the acceptance of autonomous buses.At present,there is a lack of guidance,framework,and model for the design of the human-machine interface for autonomous buses from the perspective of situation awareness at the level of passenger experience design.Therefore,it is necessary to conduct exploratory research on the human-machine interface of autonomous buses.Based on the above background,this paper studies the design of the human-machine interface for autonomous driving buses based on situation awaren ess.The research process of this paper is mainly divided into four parts: theoretical interpretation part,experimental research part,theoretical strategy construction,and design practice and evaluation.First,this paper conducts a literature study on the existing human-machine interface design and situation awareness theory of autonomous buses.Based on the autonomous bus riding scene,the influencing factors and classification of situation awareness affecting human-computer interaction are discussed,and the theoretical model of human-computer interaction interface research based on situation awareness of autonomous buses is constructed.Secondly,this paper uses field research and user interviews to verify the usability of the theoretical research model in real scenarios and clarifies the impact of three-dimensional influence factors of situation awareness on user human-computer interaction and user needs in different riding scenarios.Introduce the above outputs into the participatory design workshop to deeply mine design features.The classification and information types of situation awareness information are obtained from the aspect of information attributes,and the characteristics of information design based on situation awareness factors are summa rized.From the design aspect,the design elements of typical information are extracted around the three-dimensional situation awareness.Then,combined with the above outputs,this paper constructs a human-machine interface design model for autonomous buses based on situation awareness.On this basis,combining theoretical research,experimental research analysis,and conceptual case analysis,the design strategy of the human-machine interface of the autonomous bus is proposed from the three dimensions of the user,task,and environment.Finally,based on the above design model and design strategy,the design practice of automatic bus human-machine interface is carried out from the three dimensions of the user,task,and environment.And the u sability of the design strategy is verified by heuristic evaluation.The evaluation shows that the design model and strategy of the human-machine interface design of autonomous buses based on situation awareness has certain usability,which can provide a reference for related researchers and designers.
