With the popularization of low-carbon travel, the pursuit of high-quality life and people are eager to return to nature.Among them, the waterfront slow-moving space in the urban fringe is well received by the public due to its natural environment, closeness to water bodies, and good biodiversity. However, with the rapid development of urbanization, the unreasonable planning of the urban fringe leads to many problems of the waterfront slow-moving system in the urban fringe, such as fragmentation, single function, the lack of characteristics, and transport disorder, which seriously damages the waterfront slow-moving space and the living environment of the residents. In addition, the related research on the waterfront slow-moving system in China is mainly about landscape architecture, landscape ecology, traffic engineering, etc.,which is focused on landscape and traffic function, but ignores the understanding of urban planning. Therefore, combined with urban planning, research on the design of waterfront slow-moving systems in the urban fringe is proposed in this paper, which will help ensure the scientific and orderly development of slow-moving spaces and surrounding land planning, and give full play to the urban functions. In order to meet the needs of high-quality urban development and people’s pursuit of high-quality slow-moving space, this paper tries to summarize a more scientific and humane design strategy for the waterfront slow-moving system in the urban fringe.First, the literature research and case study are adopted to sort out and summarize the relevant theoretical research and excellent experience,so as to lay a foundation for the following research.Second, the field survey is adopted to collect relevant materials and conduct analysis and research to discuss the existing problems of the waterfront slow-moving system in the urban fringe;Thirdly, the multidisciplinary research method is adopted to carry out research from multiple perspectives and levels,so as to establish scientific and objective design strategies; Finally, the case study is adopted to conduct in-depth analysis.Taking Junhe River slow-moving system in Baiyun District,Guangzhou as a research object, under the guidance of design strategy, from the perspective of urban planning, combines multiple disciplines, focuses on land use planning, traditional rural planning, transportation planning, and ecological corridor planning, this paper conducts the design of the slow-moving system in three aspects: the organization of slow-moving passages, the construction of slow-moving landscapes, and the setting of slow-moving supporting facilities. The research overcomes the limitations of the previous waterfront slow-moving system research that only focuses on landscape and transportation functions. At the same time,on the basis of related research on landscape architecture and landscape ecology, the reservation of waterfront buffer zones, biological corridors and focus on slow-moving activities are proposed, making the design of the slow-moving system more scientific and humanized and creating an ecological, continuous and diverse urban waterfront slow-moving system in the urban fringe, which provides a reference for the design of slow-moving systems in similar areas.
