| In the context of urban renewal from "incremental construction" to "stock quality improvement",a large number of old communities have become the main objects in the process of urban renewal.At present,there are many studies on the revitalization of old communities,but few of them focus on open and old communities which have transformed some of the residential program to commercial.Therefore,a series of issues leave to be studied: how to optimize the public space of such "residential to commercial" and "open" old communities?How to revitalize the communities,and realize the synchronous development of the communities and the city.This paper selects the Liuyun community,a representative of the old "residential to commercial" communities,as the research object.At the same time,it is also the only old community along the new central axis of Guangzhou,which has the best urban public resources.Such commonality and uniqueness of Liuyun community make it a meaningful and profound research object.First of all,through a review and summary of the theories and practices related to community system and settlement renewal in China and abroad,this paper clarifies the development process,conditions and trends of communities and settlements.Then,this paper takes "vitality" as the focus and constructs theoretical tools.This research then elaborate on vitality,urban vitality,and community public space vitality step by step,and clarifies the three major vitalities that constitute community public space vitality: economic vitality,social vitality,and cultural vitality.They are intertwined with each other and influence each other.With regard to vitality,five representative theories with historical significance are selected,summarized and deduced,which enable the research to identify the material and immaterial factors influencing the vitality of public space in the community.After that,the article explores the vitality of the Liuyun community in different periods of history,and analyzes the current vitality and the factors influencing the vitality.The community is closely related to the urban development of Guangzhou.This article summarizes the economic,social and cultural vitality of the district in different periods of time from the aspects of holding sports events,business district radiation,superior location,transformation of the main social contradictions,and conversion of residence to business,etc.For the current situation,the research analyzes the current situation of material and non-material factors affecting the vitality of public space in the community through field research and a large amount of data collection.The research then summarizes the reasons for the limited development of public space vitality in the Liuyun community and the potential advantages of optimizing the vitality of public space.Finally,based on the historical changes and the current situation,three goals and three principles of the community public space optimization strategy are proposed.The research also further elaborated on the optimization strategy of public space vitality: improvement of traffic organization;transformation and utilization of landscape space;integrated utilization of building boundary space and street time-sharing management;focus on community residents and introduction of industrial population;plan and guidance of business at a community scale;promotion of culture;and involve multiple players in renewal. |
