With the promotion of China’s urban-rural integration construction and rural revitalization strategy,the rural economy has been rapidly developed and driven the large-scale construction of rural housing.This paper takes rural houses in Hubei area as the research object,influenced by the climate characteristics of hot summer and cold winter areas,with heat avoidance demand in summer and heating and artificial lighting demand in winter.Good natural lighting methods can effectively avoid direct sunlight in summer and reduce the energy consumption generated by artificial lighting and the frequency of using heating equipment in winter.Actively exploring a rural living environment with ecological livability,beautiful environment and comfortable living will help promote the healthy and sustainable development of rural housing,which is crucial to the development of rural habitat.The article firstly introduces the current situation of domestic residential natural lighting research,and describes the concepts related to natural lighting,lighting-related standards,and lighting analysis methods.Secondly,through the investigation and research on the building climate zone,light environment characteristics and the current situation of country houses in Hubei,it is concluded that the new-style country houses with "one" and "L" layout of brick and mix structure are mainly in Hubei.Analyze the problem of insufficient light in local rural houses due to unreasonable layout,different orientation,too large depth and unreasonable window openings in local houses.Then,based on the three principles of human-centeredness,implementability and economy,and regional adaptability,we propose a passive optimization strategy for natural lighting in rural houses in Hubei.Finally,an empirical study was conducted with rural houses in Guihua town,and a simplified model of rural houses in Guihua town was established based on the field research results.The computer simulation method was chosen to build an experimental platform using Rhino and Grasshopper to simulate the control variables for each influencing factor using dynamic lighting index as the evaluation basis,and the visualization results were analyzed to derive the optimal orientation,window opening method,depth,and size of shading elements for country house lighting.In this way,the natural lighting condition of rural houses is improved and the feasibility of implementing the strategy in Hubei is tested.Finally,the feasibility of the strategy is further tested by optimizing the residential lighting in Guihua Town.The natural lighting optimization strategy for rural residences studied in this paper aims to reduce the energy consumption generated by architectural lighting while meeting people’s requirements for a higher quality indoor light environment,and to provide new ideas for the livable construction of rural residences in general.
