| Urban expansion “obliterates” or “simplifies” the original land habitat with land use modification and increased human disturbance intensity, resulting in the fragmentation of the city’s habitat base.Urban habitat fragmentation will reduce biodiversity, impair the function of the urban ecosystem, and jeopardize the sustainable development of cities. To address this problem,a habitat network emerges at the historic moment and becomes one of the research hotspots for urban ecological improvement. However,in the field of landscape architecture, most habitat network studies focus only on the urban green space layout.By exploring, studying and sorting out the relationship between habitat network and urban green space landscape, this paper seeks to propose urban green space landscape design strategies that are conducive to habitat network construction. The research contents and conclusions are as follows:(1)Theoretical research.Starting with the concepts of habitat and habitat fragmentation, this paper expounded on the origin, development and constituent elements of habitat networks,as well as the concept of urban green space, and then analyze the relationship between urban green space and habitat and habitat network, compared and differentiated the concepts related to habitat networks,as well as their similarities and differences.By doing so,this paper could examine and summarize the application and limitations of current mainstream habitat network construction methods,as well as the research direction and status quo of studies on urban green space landscape based on habitat network construction or habitat creation.(2)The formation of urban green space landscape design strategy.(1)In terms of guidance and method for habitat network construction, target species were selected through field surveys of habitats, and the habitat quality assessment module of the In VEST model and the least-cost path of Arc GIS were employed to comprehensively simulate the habitat network, combined with land use data and target species observation data.(2)The orientation of the habitat network’s urban green space layout was proposed at regional, city and cluster scales, and the principle for identifying the habitat network structure was advanced based on habitat quality, species richness, area(or width),and the difference and location relationship among structures,so as to identify the urban green space type of each structure.(3)The landscape design cases of different types of urban green space were analyzed regarding design concept, spatial layout and habitat design(including habitat area planning, habitat protection and construction),and the corresponding urban green space landscape design strategy was put forward.(3)Example verification. The multi-scale habitat network construction method was applied to Nanjing city to examine the multi-scale habitat network. The results showed that the core areas of the habitat network in downtown Nanjing were numerous but fragmented, with a single connectivity structure, while the core areas in the north and south of Nanjing were few but diverse in the connectivity structure. The following problems occurred within the habitat network of the central urban area:(1)the core areas were too scattered, their size was too small, and some of them were fragmented;(2)The connectivity structure was single and the function was inadequate.(3)Significant fragmentation of habitat patches occurred.Using typical examples of different types of urban green space in downtown Nanjing’s habitat network, this paper identifies the urban green space that weighs heavily in the construction of the Nanjing urban habitat network and puts forward corresponding suggestions and landscape design strategies. |
