Since the Sino US trade war in 2018 and the outbreak of the COVID-19 in 2019,China’s manufacturing industry has faced enormous challenges from internal and external problems.The demand for cost-effective products from consumers in the market,as well as the weakening of public consumption power,has doubled the pressure on manufacturing enterprises to price their products.A large proportion of product prices come from manufacturing costs,including material and labor costs.Using the value stream diagram in lean production theory as a starting point,and then using appropriate lean production improvement tools to improve the personnel production efficiency of product assembly production lines,can form an effective means of reducing costs,which is worth exploring in depth for every manufacturing enterprise.This study takes the assembly production line of A company’s dual tank water heater as the specific research object,with the aim of improving personnel production efficiency and reducing the manufacturing cost of a single product,to conduct optimization research on the improvement of the production line.Firstly,this study sorted out the production process and content of each workstation on the product assembly production line,and collected data on job processing time(C/T),action time(P/T),and other indicators using on-site observation and measurement methods.Secondly,conduct a systematic analysis of the above data and draw a current value stream map of the product line.Once again,use the value stream status map to identify inefficient issues with waste in the production line,such as bottleneck time(B/T)being higher than beat time(T/T),low production line balance rate,and high downtime.On this basis,draw a value stream future map to depict the ideal state that you ultimately hope to achieve.In response to the analyzed problems,using the theory and tools of lean production,propose corresponding production efficiency improvement strategies and solutions,mainly including action analysis,job optimization configuration,pull production,and equipment failure rate reduction strategies.The improvement results indicate that the balance rate of Company A’s assembly production line has been improved,increasing from 46.94% to 78.8%,reducing labor costs by 5.36%,and reducing finished product inventory by 108000 yuan.In the end,the production efficiency of Company A’s product assembly line was improved,which enhanced Company A’s competitiveness in the same industry.The value stream graph improvement method proposed in this study has been successfully implemented in Company A,proving that lean production research based on value stream graphs can effectively shorten product delivery times,improve production efficiency,and thereby reduce product costs.The proposed solution in this study also has reference value for improving the production efficiency of other home appliance assembly lines,and has certain reference significance for the production management of other manufacturing enterprises in China.
