In the recent years,rural construction in China has been accelerated because of the background of the rural vitalization strategy.And the physical and psychological developments of children have been one of the vital aspects for education.But there were many problems in the rural areas,such as the poor equipment,narrow space,lack of assisted-living facility and so on.Moreover,the monotonous and rigid campus design have a negative effect on the psychological growth of children and ignore their needs for the surrounding space.On the contrast,the improvement of the rural campus conditions and environment are beneficial to the education in the rural areas and facilitate the revitalization of rural culture.Therefore,based on children’s mental health,this paper takes rural primary school campus as the research object,aiming at the widespread phenomenon in rural primary school campus,discusses the design strategy that conforms to the diversified needs of children’s mental health,and constructs the space and environment of primary school campus that accords with children’s physical and mental health development.Through the analysis of children’s psychological characteristics,psychological needs and related theories,the relationship between rural children’s psychology and primary school campus is established,Based on the questionnaire survey of 320 children in 8 rural primary schools in Yongxing County,Chenzhou City,Hunan Province,it is concluded that children’s needs for differentiated activity sites and life service functions,and children prefer free and flexible learning space and love to be close to nature,Combined with external activity space in campus,classroom space,living space and the current situation of landscape greening research,found that there are at present in rural primary school campus design activity space constraint chaos,lack of classroom space closed monotonous,life service function,space,color and considering the demand for children’s lack of landscape greening.Based on this,this paper proposes optimization strategies for rural children’s mental health from the aspects of outdoor activity Spaces such as sports grounds and courtyards,living service Spaces such as dormitories and canteens,functional unit classification of classrooms,seat layout forms,landscape greening and color related theories.Combined with the design strategy,wunii Primary School of Yongxing County as a case,adhere to the design principles of safety,humanization and sense of belonging,Optimize the design from outdoor activity space,indoor teaching space,life service space and landscape greening,For rural primary school campus design to provide theoretical reference and rural children’s healthy growth to provide certain help for the future planning and construction of rural areas to provide reference value and realistic basis.
