With the reform of quality education in China the characteristics of students' physical and mental development have received more and more attention.It is an important educational requirement of the school to develop children's learning adaptability,mental and aesthetic creativity.By creating a pleasant learning environment for children is the primary prerequisite for boosting their personality development.However,with the rapid development of urbanization,many traditional primary schools campus environment have not been updated with the passage of time.There are some widespread problems,such as the old buildings and the monotonous color environment.On the other hand,due to lack of color research in primary school campuses,it also leads to the poor collection of color usage in some primary schools.Therefore,this research study takes the color of primary school campus as the primary research object based upon the psychological characteristics of primary school children.Based on the inductive analysis of the color design cases of excellent primary schools inside China and abroad,the paper proposes the color design principles and general methods of appearance color,interior space color and campus environment color.Under the premise of respecting the regional color characteristics,the appearance color of the building needs to maintain the overall coordination and uniformity,and uses of that particular color that conforms to the individuality of the educational building;in addition to the color psychology of the children,the color of the indoor space also needs to pay attention to the color composition of the space and its own functional characteristics;the outdoor color environment of the campus should have a rich natural color environment and there should be artificial color environment for the children.In the color design method,the exterior color of the building can be divided into two main parts: color selection and composition;the color of the interior space needs to be selected and matched according to the function of the space;the outdoor environment color needs to create a changeable natural color environment for children and an artificial color environment that is unified with the overall environment of the building and popular with children.At the end of this research study,the research results are summarized and the future research directions are proposed.
