Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the international shipping market has undergone a profound transformation, and the operations and challenges faced by shipping companies are unprecedented.Events such as vessel schedule disruptions, port skipping, container shortages, market fluctuations, and natural disasters have introduced significant uncertainty and disruptions to actual operations.Shipping companies lack effective and flexible response strategies when confronted with uncertain events, which greatly impact the allocation of cargo space.Against this backdrop,it is highly worthwhile to delve into how Event System Theory can be effectively applied to the shipping industry. This involves adapting strategies and methods in response to changing pandemic conditions, efficiently allocating cargo space, improving cargo space utilization, meeting customer transportation needs, and enhancing customer satisfaction. This thesis begins by introducing the basic concepts of Event System Theory,Customer Relationship Management, and cargo space allocation, and analyzes the feasibility of applying these theories to the shipping industry.Furthermore,it conducts an analysis of the current situation and challenges faced by Company B,a shipping company. These challenges are categorized into internal and external factors. To address these factors,Based on the theory of event systems, four events, namely customer relationship management, demand forecasting, pricing, and empty container replenishment, which affect the cabin allocation strategy of B Shipping Company, were analyzed one by one.Based on this,a cabin allocation strategy was designed, and adjustment strategies were also designed to respond to unexpected events. Finally,in order to ensure the smooth implementation of the aforementioned strategies,a series of safeguard measures are proposed, considering both internal and external influencing factors. This thesis investigates how,in the post-pandemic era,in the face of regular market fluctuations or unpredictable weather conditions, flexible response strategies can support cargo space allocation to improve utilization, reduce operational costs, and enhance the company’s sustainability. This thesis effectively applies Event System Theory to the shipping industry, enriching and enhancing the study of Event System Theory in the context of shipping companies.Particularly,it provides specific methods and recommendations for managing Event System Theory within shipping companies, expanding and deepening the scope of research in this field. It offers scientific decision support to Company B in the post-pandemic environment, providing cargo space allocation strategies and improving service levels.
