Research On The Impact Of China-Laos Railway On The Upgrading Of Industrial Structure Of Major Cities Along The Line

As one of the important construction projects of the "the Belt and Road" initiative,the China-Laos Railway is an important channel to promote the deepening of trade and economic ties between China and Laos,Laos and Indochina Peninsula countries,and China and Southeast Asian countries.With the development of trade and investment,the economic and industrial structure of major cities along the China-Laos Railway will change dramatically.The function of the China-Laos Railway is positioned as a fixer to boost the economic development of China and Laos,deepen the economic ties between China,Laos and Southeast Asian countries.The construction and operation of the China-Laos Railway helps the major cities along the line develop into regional economic centers,promote investment attraction,accelerate industrial agglomeration,attract labor inflow,and form regional logistics hubs in cities,constantly radiate to peripheral cities,and drive regional economic development.It plays an important role in reducing poverty rates,accelerating industrialization,and rationalizing and improving the level of industrial structure in Laos.As a cross-border railway,China-Laos Railway not only benefits the economy of China and Laos,but also boosts trade and investment cooperation between China,Laos and other Southeast Asian countries.The opening of the China-Laos railway reduces the logistics costs of China Laos trade without passing through a third country.Moreover,relying on the China-Laos railway,a large number of China’s foreign trade goods can reach Thailand,Cambodia,Vietnam and Myanmar,forming a transportation network,which not only promotes the economic development of Laos,but also opens the road of interconnection between China and Southeast Asian countries.China’s foreign trade,foreign investment and economic ties with Southeast Asian countries will continue to expand and strengthen.This paper focuses on the research on the impact of the construction and operation of the China-Laos railway on the upgrading of the industrial structure of major cities along the line.First,according to the background of the construction of the China-Laos railway,this paper expounds the theoretical and practical significance of the research content of this paper,and explains the research technical route and main research content.The research methods mainly use the literature research method and quantitative analysis method;Secondly,on the one hand,it elaborates relevant concepts and summarizes the theory of industrial structure evolution and the theory of transport infrastructure and industrial structure.Relevant concepts include industrial structure and industrial structure upgrading.The theory of industrial structure evolution mainly elaborates Petty Clark’s Law,Kuznets’ Law,Hoffman’s Law and the theory of flying geese.The theory of transport infrastructure and industrial structure mainly elaborates the "growth pole" theory,new economic geography and the "center periphery" model.On the other hand,literature review is carried out with the keywords of China-Laos railway,industrial structure upgrading,transport infrastructure and industrial structure upgrading,and gray Markov model to establish the innovation points of this paper;Thirdly,analyze the operation status of the China-Laos Railway and the development status of the industrial structure of major cities along the China-Laos Railway from 2011 to 2020,and use it as the basic data of the prediction model.In the current situation of industrial structure development of major cities along the China-Laos Railway,Yuxi City mainly focuses on the development of the secondary industry,while Kunming City,Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture and Pu’er City mainly focus on the development of the tertiary industry.In the current development status of the industrial structure of the main cities along the Laos section,Vientiane City mainly focuses on the development of the secondary industry,Luang Namtha Province mainly focuses on the development of the primary industry,and Oudomxay and Luang Prabang Provinces mainly focus on the development of the tertiary industry.The paper then uses the panel data regression model to quantitatively analyze whether the construction period of the Laos China Railway has an impact on the upgrading of the industrial structure of the major cities along the line.The empirical results show that the construction period of the Laos China Railway has a significant positive effect on the upgrading of the industrial structure of the major cities along the line.Then select the population flow,technology transfer,international trade In the analysis of the four factors of international investment,how does the operation of the old railway affect the upgrading of the industrial structure of the major cities along the line,and the gray Markov model is used to predict the upgrading level of the industrial structure of the major cities along the line from 2021-2025.It is found that the upgrading level of the industrial structure of the major cities along the line is generally rising.Finally,based on the analysis of the current situation of industrial structure development in Chapter 3,as well as the regression and predictive analysis results in Chapter 4,relevant suggestions are proposed to further summarize the entire text and propose future research prospects.
