| The limited land resources,high-density urban population and increasingly complex functional demands within Beijing’s urban areas have led to a trend of functional compounding of transportation nodes in the city.As an important node of urban public transportation, bus stations are becoming more and more important in the changing urban functions, transportation modes and travel demands. In recent years,Beijing has issued relevant documents to encourage the integration of public transport stations with urban public service functions, and has also launched relevant projects for the benefit of the public, which shows that the flourishing development of public transport stations is closely related to the production and life of urban residents, and the design of their public space is of great significance for enhancing urban traffic efficiency and improving the travel experience of urban residents. In this context, bus stations are constantly developing and changing from single-function and relatively closed stations to transportation complexes, and the functional compounding of bus stations has become a trend. However, over the years, the research on bus stations has been limited to site selection and planning, ignoring the importance of combining with urban public service functions and the importance of public space of the stations, and the relevant design methods and guidelines still need to be improved. The article focuses on the design principles and methods of the public space of public transport stations under the trend of functional compounding. The article firstly compares the research developments related to public space in bus stations at home and abroad, clarifies the relevant concepts and basic theoretical knowledge, and systematically discusses why functional compounding is the development trend of public space in bus stations,as well as the specific manifestations and influencing factors of the development of functional compounding.Secondly, the research and summary of the construction of existing public transport stations and their public space use in the urban areas of Beijing, classifies the public space of public transport stations into three categories: interface, flow and node, and summarises the characteristics of the public space of public transport stations in terms of function, flow and urban relationship under the influence of functional compounding. Finally,in the light of the planning and development requirements of Beijing’s urban areas, namely the integrity of the functional layout, the master-subordination of the composite flow and the openness of the urban connection;the design strategies of the functional layout, flow organization and urban relationship of the public space of public transport stations are summarized and summarized to provide reference for the subsequent design of public space of bus stations under the trend of functional compounding. |
