| In recent years, urbanization has entered a transitional phase, with the frequent occurrence of social incidents such as natural disasters, public health and security events, and financial crises, which have intensified demand for building sustainable living settlements.Currently, the long-term historical problems of old community space in China and changing social demands have led to poor risk resistance and low sustainability. As a result, the traditional single-point remedy strategies are hardly effective, and it is pressing to explore new approaches that can promptly respond to complex problems and promote sustainable living. In recent years, the“resilient community” theory has emerged in some countries and been tested by urban renewal projects, shedding new light on residential renovation in China. With its focus on building resilient communities, this research proceeds from the perspective of existing space of old communities and conducts design practices through multidimensional utilization design,so as to verify the feasibility of the renewal strategies.Chapter one elaborates the background, basic theoretical logic and value of this research.Chapter two systematically examines the development history and practical cases related to “resilient community” and “the renovation of old communities”,addressing the connotation, capability features, and key elements of the resilient renovation of old communities.Chapter three is an exploratory research of strategies, proposing analysis of the status quo, elements of the renovation, renovation principles and corresponding strategies.Chapter four is a designed empirical study.Taking the New Village community of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport as an example to conduct field research, this chapter investigates the development process and outlines current problems of this community. It carries out whole-process participatory activities and the design of “symbiosis station” in the community in accordance with the summarized resilient renovation theories and strategies, and presents the effects of resilient renovation in a specific way,to finally analyze the results and feedbacks of existing practices.Chapter five concludes with a summary and limitations, and provides insights for the future development of community resilient spaces. This research studies the “resilient community” from the perspectives of the development trends of matters and evolving human needs, and extends the focus on the environment of the community to its humanistic relationships. The research methodology incorporates design, psychology, social behaviors and other relevant disciplines to conduct research and design practice. Thus,a set of resilient renewal strategies is developed based on the criteria of maintaining diversity, increasing redundancy and expanding participation, towards the reconfiguration of spatial function and neighborhood relationship in old communities.Such strategies serve to guide the renovation of public space of existing old communities by systematically improving functions and conducting humanistic resilient renovation, thereby generating deeper emotional awareness and behavioral introspection of residents.Ultimately,a resilient and sustainable mode that is both internal and external, culturally compatible, circular and renewable will be integrated and take on form. |
