With the adjustment of China’s birth policy,the number of children has soared,and the issue of general education,which is closely related to children’s daily life,has also entered people’s vision.At the same time,the concept of child-friendly cities has received further attention in China,and "child-friendly cities" have been included in the "14th Five-Year Plan".It can be seen that under the background of China’s age structure change and urban construction focus adjustment,protecting children’s rights and interests in cities will become the consensus of all parties.Based on this,this paper analyzes the needs of children walking through school,discusses the establishment of a scientific evaluation system,and takes Xicheng District of Beijing as an example to evaluate and optimize the pedestrian-friendliness of primary school space,and provides theories,paths and methods for the construction and refined governance of general school space.Based on the physical and mental characteristics of school-age children and the characteristics of general school,this paper analyzes the walking needs of primary school children,scientifically inventories multi-source data information and related evaluation research,discusses the construction of the assessment method of walking friendliness of children’s general school space,and uses the analytic hierarchy method to establish an evaluation system for children’s walking friendliness in general school space with 4 first-level indicators and 15 second-level indicators.On this basis,taking Xicheng District of Beijing as an example,the pedestrian-friendliness of primary school general school space is evaluated,the types of general school space are analyzed and the spatial structure characteristics are analyzed,and sample primary schools are selected for investigation and evaluation,and the direction for the system optimization of general school space is provided through comparative analysis,and optimization strategies are proposed from four aspects: convenience and accessibility,travel safety,activity comfort,and edutainment.Based on the perspective of children from a height of 1 meter,this paper systematically studies the pedestrian-friendliness of general school space,explores the construction of scientific evaluation methods,and proposes optimization strategies under the guidance of the evaluation results.The research results provide reliable support for the quantitative analysis and evaluation of the pedestrian space environment of schools,provide practical guidance for the application of the concept of child-friendly city in the optimization of primary school pedestrian space in Xicheng District,Beijing,and provide guidance for other cities to build "child-friendly cities" and optimize the space around schools.
