The new energy vehicle industry is in a rapid growth period globally.The demand for power batteries in the new energy vehicle industry is increasing.In recent years,XD Company has invested a lot of resources into power battery business for the need of industrial upgrading and business expansion.However,the company’s power battery business is facing problems and challenges such as continuous losses,ambiguous strategies and fierce competition.Against the above background,XD Company urgently needs to establish a competitive strategy that matches the development of its power battery business in order to gain sustainable competitive advantages in the market competition.This paper first analyzes the external macro environment of the XD’s power battery business by using PEST tools,and analyzes the industry environment,market environment and competitors facing the power battery business from the dimensions of industry life cycle,five forces model,market supply and demand,customer behavior and CPM matrix,and summarizes the external opportunities and threats.Secondly,the internal environment was analyzed from four dimensions,including the current business situation,corporate culture,corporate resources and corporate capabilities of XD,and the internal advantages and disadvantages were sorted out.Again,key factors such as opportunities and threats,strengths and weaknesses affecting the external and internal environment of XD’s power battery business were refined and summarized;alternative strategies were formulated using tools such as EFE matrix,IFE matrix and SWOT matrix;the differentiation strategy was selected as the optimal strategy using QSPM matrix.Finally,a competitive strategy plan for XD’s power battery business was developed,which includes four dimensions of product differentiation,service differentiation,brand differentiation and benefit sharing differentiation to implement the company’s differentiated competitive strategy;five dimensions of organizational structure,R&D innovation,intellectual property rights,quality management and supply chain security to provide effective guarantee for the implementation of the strategy;and the balanced scorecard and strategy map were used to control the implementation of the strategy.The research results of this paper can not only guide the direction of the development of the power battery business of XD,but also help the company to continuously improve its core competitiveness.At the same time,it also has a good value for other power battery companies to learn from the development and implementation of competitive strategies.
