Asphalt pavement is widely used because of its good road performance.However,with the increasing freight traffic,ordinary asphalt pavement is difficult to meet the demand of axle load.Therefore,various types of modified asphalt such as polymer modified asphalt,fiber modified asphalt and composite modified asphalt emerge as the times require and are vigorously developed.In recent years,in order to achieve the goal of carbon reduction and emission reduction,wind energy has been developed rapidly,and the ’ scrap tide ’ of fan blades in China has come.Waste fan blades(WFB)are mainly composed of glass fiber,carbon fiber and other composite fibers.Aiming at the problems of large volume recovery,high value recycling technology blank and high price of various modifiers for asphalt pavement,this paper puts forward the solution of using WFB composite fibers as modified materials for asphalt pavement,which is of great significance and engineering practice value for the study of WFB recycling and asphalt pavement performance improvement.In this paper,the optimum preparation process parameters and flow chart of WFB composite fiber modified asphalt are proposed by orthogonal test design and grey correlation analysis method.The content and particle size of WFB composite fiber were determined by SEM test and modified asphalt penetration,softening point and ductility test.FTIR was used to study the modification effect of WFB composite fiber on matrix asphalt.It was found that no new functional group was formed after the fusion of WFB composite fiber and asphalt,and no chemical reaction occurred in the modification process,but the characteristics of WFB composite fiber changed the performance of asphalt.Based on the interface theory,the surface of WFB composite fiber was treated by silane coupling agent,and then the matrix asphalt was modified.The characteristics of WFB composite fiber before and after silane coupling agent treatment were studied from the aspects of SEM surface morphology,XRD microstructure,acid and alkali corrosion resistance and wettability.The influence of silane coupling agent treatment method,type and dosage on the performance of WFB composite fiber modified asphalt was discussed.It was found that the silane coupling agent and WFB composite fiber surface produced chemical bond cooperation,which made the contact angle of WFB composite fiber smaller,the surface energy increased,the adhesion with asphalt increased,and the low temperature performance improved.SBS/WFB composite modified asphalt was prepared,and three indexes and viscosity tests were carried out.The scoring model was established based on principal component analysis,and it was found that when the SBS content was 4%,the comprehensive performance of SBS/WFB composite modified asphalt was better.Based on the experimental analysis of temperature sensitivity,high temperature stability,low temperature crack resistance and plastic interval,the influence of different mixing pairs on the pavement performance of SBS/WFB composite modified asphalt was systematically studied.Based on the aging resistance,storage stability and AFM microscopic test,the technical performance and modification mechanism of SBS/WFB composite modified asphalt are further studied.It is recommended that 4% SBS and 2% WFB are used in production.
