The eastern region of Henan is located in the cold region of China, bordering on hot summer and cold winter regions. The climate in this region is distinctive, with a large number of villages and rural residents distributed. With the advancement of new rural construction, traditional villages are gradually moving towards modernization, and the lives of rural residents are also developing towards modernization.During this period, the upgrading of rural industries and the improvement of the appearance of villages have brought earthshaking changes to the lives of rural residents. Therefore, the quality of life of rural residents is in front of them, including the improvement of the living environment of rural residents, that is,the indoor thermal environment of residential buildings. However, during the construction of rural housing in eastern Henan, there is a phenomenon of blind pursuit of form and function, neglect of climate characteristics, and lack of scientific guidance to cope with the cold winter and hot summer conditions. As a result, poor indoor thermal environment and high cooling and heating loads commonly exist in rural housing in this area, which has a serious impact on the quality of life of residents. Therefore,in the context of new rural construction, this paper, from the perspective of passive design methods for rural housing, conducted on-site measurement of physical parameters of the indoor and outdoor thermal environment of newly built rural housing, and conducted a parametric study of passive design methods for rural housing in eastern Henan through simulation calculation of building energy consumption simulation software. The purpose of this study is to provide a passive design method for new rural residential buildings in eastern Henan so as to improve indoor thermal environment and reduce building energy consumption. This study is divided into the following parts:The first chapter is the introduction, which first briefly describes the relevant background and significance of this study, then defines the relevant concepts involved in this study, and briefly describes the domestic and foreign status related to this study; Finally, the research methods and framework involved in this paper are described. The second and third chapters summarize the characteristics of the current rural housing in eastern Henan by literature research.Combined with field research,a representative new rural residential building is selected to analyze the application status of passive design method and short-term thermal environment measurement in winter and summer. Moreover, the architectural geometry information, building materials and structures were obtained through surveying and mapping and investigation, which provided basic data for the simulation in the following chapters. In the fourth chapter, numerical simulation is used to quantitatively analyze the indoor thermal environment of rural residential buildings.Based on the relevant test data of representative residential buildings in Chapter 2,the benchmark model was created using the Open Studio Sketchup plug-in and Energy Plus software.Based on the measured data in winter and summer, the benchmark model was validated using the normalized mean deviation NMBE and the root mean square error variation coefficient CV(RMSE).Then, based on the“Evaluation Standard for Indoor Thermal Environment in Civil Buildings ”(GB/T 50785-2012),the time when the benchmark model meets the thermal environment category II throughout the year is simulated and calculated. The results show that 49.7% of the time in a year, residential buildings are within the scope of the thermal environment category II.Based on parametric analysis, the fifth chapter simulates and calculates the improvement of different passive design methods on the benchmark model’s indoor annual time to reach the thermal environment category II.And rank the effects of each passive design method.Passive design methods include two major categories: architectural form design methods and thermal design methods for envelope structures, namely, the south facade shading(Balcony on the second floor),building floor height, south facade sunlight room, bay depth ratio, and south facade window to wall ratio, window type, exterior wall EPS insulation, and south facade reflective coating. The results show that adding EPS insulation to the exterior walls of rural residential buildings in eastern Henan is an effective means to improve the indoor thermal environment; The second is the depth ratio of the bay.To verify the comprehensive impact of each passive design method on the thermal environment of the benchmark model of the residence. Finally,a comprehensive scheme design of multiple passive design methods was conducted for the benchmark model, and the comprehensive effects of these methods were verified through numerical simulation. The research results can make up for the lack of research on the indoor thermal environment of new rural residential buildings in eastern Henan Province, and provide design references for using passive design methods to improve the indoor thermal environment of new rural residential buildings in eastern Henan Province and other areas with similar climatic conditions.
