Study On Urban Spatial Evolution And Motivation Of Old City In Tianjin(1860-1945)

After more than 600 years since the founding of Tianjin,the Old city area,as the location of the old city,contains rich historical information and art and culture.During the period of national development in the 14 th Five-Year Plan,strengthening the protection and inheritance of historical culture in urban and rural construction has become the focus of work in the new era.Looking at the current research status,there is a lack of specific and in-depth interpretation of the history of the old city,especially the history after the port was opened.In modern times,the old city basically continued the overall pattern of the ancient city construction period,and Tianjin,as one of the earliest cities to open its port,also retained a large number of historical maps,which laid a good research foundation for the study of the urban space evolution of Tianjin’s old city.This study takes the urban space of the old city in the period from 1860 to 1945 as the research object.First,it analyzes the evolution process of the urban space in this period by combing the history of urban development and combining historical events.Based on this,urban elements are classified.Secondly,Arc GIS and historical maps are used to extract and translate the urban spatial elements of the old city area in this period,and an urban spatial database is established based on this.According to the database information,the urban space of this period is quantitatively analyzed and presented in a visual form.Finally,combined with the literature,the paper summarizes the evolution law and evolution motivation of urban spatial elements.This paper first explains the object of the study,and defines the geographical scope and time range of the study.This paper summarizes the existing research status and finds that the research is insufficient.Based on the existing research deficiencies,the purpose and significance of this paper are explained.The analysis method of this study is determined and the research flow chart is drawn through the relevant review.Firstly,the existing image data and text data are collected and screened.According to the time classification,the urban development of the old city is divided into three stages,and the urban development of each period is summarized,and the old city of Tianjin in the modern period(1860-1945)is analyzed by stages based on historical events.The establishment of the database includes sorting,screening and correcting the existing historical maps of the city.Based on the historical development of the old city of Tianjin in different periods,urban elements with great changes were selected for extraction.Based on the extraction results,urban elements restoration map was drawn and urban spatial database was established.Based on restored map and database information,various urban spatial elements are analyzed,including street,water,commercial space,administrative space and cultural space.Based on the literature,the paper summarizes its spatial layout characteristics and seeks the main factors affecting its layout.Finally,the paper summarizes the law and causes of urban spatial form evolution in the old city area of Tianjin from 1860 to 1945,and explains the research deficiencies and prospects.
