| The garden is a spatial art built with material materials for human recreation,while literature is an aesthetic ideology written in language symbols to meet certain social needs.On the surface,gardens and literature are not related to each other.But in fact,the garden has been associated with literature since its birth,only the early people’s understanding of the relationship between the two is rather vague.To the six dynasties,the hidden relationship between the garden and literature gradually clear,thanks to the prosperity of the garden and the prosperity of garden literature at that time.Han,Wei and the Western Jin Dynasty garden style with the southern migration of the Jin room scraped to the southern region,coupled with the promotion of various factors,in the southern region of Jiankang as the center of a garden boom.From princes and nobles down to the commoners,they had great enthusiasm for garden construction,and various types of gardens emerged.These literary works reproduced the style of the Six Dynasties’ gardens from various angles and in various literary forms,containing profound ideological connotations that have endured and given immortal life to the Six Dynasties’ gardens.The interaction between the Sixth Dynasty gardens and literature makes the relationship between the two increasingly close,and they intermingle and interpenetrate,drawing on each other and advancing each other.This paper takes the Sixth Dynasty gardens and garden literature as the object of study,aiming to elucidate the relationship between them and to explore the real face of the Sixth Dynasty gardens and the ideological implications and value of garden literature.The article will be developed in the following five parts:The introductory part first defines the concepts of the Six Dynasties,gardens and garden literature,the object of this article,after having a clear understanding of the object of this article;then it composes the current state of research on gardens and garden literature in the Six Dynasties and summarizes the shortcomings of previous studies accordingly;then it puts forward the research value and significance of this article and determines the research method of this article.The first chapter begins with the background of the rise of the Sixth Dynasty gardens and the art of landscape composition.The first section analyzes the background of the rise of gardens in the Six Dynasties.The rise of gardens in the Six Dynasties was caused by a combination of factors,including the superior natural conditions in the south,which facilitated the construction of gardens;the unique political environment,which stimulated the desire of scribes to build gardens;the development of the estate economy,which provided the material basis for the construction of gardens;and the emancipation of the mind and the awakening of the aesthetic consciousness of landscape,which were the intrinsic reasons for the construction of gardens.The second section introduces the development overview of the Six Dynasties gardens.This section divides the Six Dynasties gardens into three major systems: royal gardens,private gardens and temple gardens,introduces their development respectively,and gives a brief overview of the development of the three types of gardens in different dynasties of the Six Dynasties period,according to which the development of the Six Dynasties gardens can be understood.The third section analyzes the art of landscape composition in the Six Dynasties gardens,where mountains,water bodies,plants and buildings were essential elements for the construction of the gardens,and together they camped a rich and varied spatial form of the gardens.The second chapter starts from the interplay between Sixth Dynasty gardens and garden literature.The first section explores the mutual relationship between garden objects and literary imagery in the Six Dynasties,as garden objects became literary imagery through human screening,and literary imagery impregnated with subjective sentiment materialized into the garden landscape again,becoming part of the landscape system.Garden objects were the source of literary imagery,but people’s preference for imagery varied from period to period.The second section explores the relationship between garden imagery and literary imagery in the Six Dynasties,as both garden imagery and literary imagery belong to the category of "imagery" and share similarities in creation techniques,and both have "nature" as the highest aesthetic ideal.The three chapter begins with the literary writing of the Sixth Dynasty gardens.The first section analyzes the attitude and tone of the literary writing on gardens in the Six Dynasties,as the literary writers of the Six Dynasties had different attitudes toward writing on gardens in different situations,and they wrote on gardens in a serious,leisurely,or entertaining manner,making the literary works on gardens present different tones.The second section analyzes the content of garden literature written in the Six Dynasties,with literary themes,garden scenery and garden life being the main contents of garden literature written.The third section analyzes the ideological connotations of garden literature of the Six Dynasties,which not only contains the idea of "the unity of heaven and man" and the strong sense of life of the Six Dynasties scribes,but also conceals the gender distinction between male and female scribes in writing about gardens.The fourth chapter focuses on the value and influence of garden literature of the Six Dynasties.The first section elaborates on the value of garden literature of the Six Dynasties,which not only recorded and reproduced the gardens of the Six Dynasties,but also gave immortal life to the gardens of the Six Dynasties,which were widely disseminated and passed on to the world because of garden literature.The second section elaborates on the influence of garden literature of the Six Dynasties on the construction of gardens and the inspiration brought to modern garden construction. |
