The Tea Horse Ancient Road is an inherent mainline of the historical settlement heritage in the Dali region. However the protection status of traditional villages and towns along the line is no longer optimistic. This article analyzes the specific content of the spatial location, spatial scale, spatial elements, interface architecture, market functions, functional formats, and other aspects of each street market by comparing typical village and town street market cases along the Dali line. From the perspective of location, the intersection of multiple lines often leads to large hubs and stations,as well as the intersection of face shaped villages and towns and multiple street markets; However, when a single line passes through,it often leads to the formation of rural streets with a strip main line. The spatial aspect ratio of traditional street markets in villages and towns varies depending on the geographical environment and the development status of the streets. The aspect ratio of prosperous main streets is often around 1.5,but due to the influence of population and environment, this ratio may shrink.Analyze the spatial elements of the markets along the Dali route, summarize the characteristics, functions, and occurrence conditions of the paving and drainage systems in each case; This thesis discusses the layout characteristics, street facade characteristics, and eaves space of interface buildings in the street markets along the Dali route. It is proposed that the street markets along the Dali route usually have double eaves, with narrow eaves and accompanying platform elements, and differences are reflected in different regions. In response to the similarities and differences in the style and features of the street market cases in this article, two types of strategies have been proposed: coordinated protection and targeted characteristic protection. The thesis compares the protection and operation status of traditional street markets along the Dali route,as well as their advantages and disadvantages, through a detailed analysis of the functional formats of these markets. Finally, based on the theory of living heritage, this article believes that efforts need to be made in four ways to continue the vitality of historical street communities: accepting the authenticity and diversity of traditional life, unleashing the mixed vitality of market behavior, continuing traditional construction techniques, and adhering to a people-oriented development and management mechanism.
