Zoo,as the main carrier of animal relocation and conservation,the window and medium of conservation education,its existence and development have greater practical and social significance.After years of development,urban zoos in China are faced with the challenge of renewal and renovation under land constraints.In the context of biodiversity conservation and global climate problems,this study takes the animal exhibits in urban zoos as the research object,uses the concepts and methods of sustainable design,passive design,and conservation gardening to explore the ecological transformation of urban zoos,and uses green technology as a guide to launch a study of habitat renewal strategies for animal exhibits in urban zoos.Firstly,the development of zoos is reviewed,the habitat of existing zoos is investigated,and the goals of habitat creation are proposed.Secondly,we propose the application of green technology in animal habitat creation in terms of environmental protection,resource conservation,reduction of energy consumption,and carbon emission.Finally,the animal exhibit of Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo is used as a practical object to renew and create a habitat for the hippopotamus exhibit using green technology.The research is carried out in the following four aspects:1.Summarize the development profile of zoos under the changing context of the times.By combining theoretical research and practical investigation,the research was conducted on the existing zoos in Jiangsu Province,for example,to summarize the current status of zoos in terms of master planning,animal exhibit design,and visitor viewing design,analyze the sources of energy consumption and carbon emissions in zoos,and summarize the path of energy saving and carbon compensation at the zoo design level.2.Analyze the composition of animal exhibit habitats and propose the objectives of zoo exhibit habitat creation.First,the composition of the habitat of the animal exhibit is studied.The habitat of the animal exhibit consists of animal habitat space and visitor space,in which the animal habitat space is the main body of the animal exhibit habitat,consisting of natural environments such as rocks and waters,and artificial environments such as perches and shelters.Secondly,the objective of habitat creation in the animal exhibition area is proposed,that is,the entry point of green technology.Green technology starts from three aspects: restoring a comfortable habitat climate,integrating suitable animal habitat elements,and creating friendly visiting paths,to renew and renovate the habitat of the animal exhibit.3.Propose the habitat creation and renewal strategy of the zoo under the guidance of green technology.Firstly,the renovation and renewal of the animal exhibit are studied at the level of energy saving,applying passive design technology,introducing green energy use,creating a water recycling system,developing and using energy-saving products,recycling waste and other energy-saving and environmental protection green technology application strategies;Secondly,the renovation and renewal of the zoo exhibit are carried out at the level of governance,including the use of materials,dye control and ecological restoration and vegetation protection;Finally,at the planning and design level,we propose ways to improve the efficient use of space.4.Under the guidance of the strategy,the experimental design for the renewal and creation of the zoo area is carried out.The hippopotamus exhibit in Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo is used as an experimental design object.After a detailed study of the basic biological information,natural history,ecological habits,and feeding conditions of the hippopotamus,we summarize the shortcomings of the existing hippopotamus exhibit and propose its renewal direction.It will create a habitat that is suitable for hippopotami and has a similar climate to its original habitat,a natural habitat with rich environmental changes,and at the same time create an immersive path for visitors to experience,and finally create a multi-species friendly habitat,providing new ideas for the habitat renewal of animal exhibits under land constraints.
