Research On The Application Of Wabi-Sabi Aesthetic Concept In Modern Homestay Space

With the acceleration of the pace of urban life and the development of the construction of beautiful countryside,rural life experience has been widely concerned,which promotes the development of B&B.However,the rapid and violent development mode also brings some problems,such as the lack of cultural connotation and serious homogeneity of homestand space design.Wabi-Sabi aesthetics has deep cultural heritage and unique aesthetic characteristics.It focuses on the harmonious symbiotic relationship between human and nature,pursues simplicity and natural beauty,and its ideas and thoughts fit well with the concept of homestay design.This research tries to integrate the aesthetic concept of Wabi-Sabi into the design of modern homestay space,which can not only make up for the lack of connotation of modern homestay design,meet people’s deep spiritual needs,but also provide a new design style.Aiming at the above problems,this paper first studied the theories related to wabi-sabi aesthetic concept and B&B space design.Starting from the origin and development of homestay,this paper analyzes the design points of the function and form of homestay space.At the same time,the definition of Wabi-Sabi is separated to grasp the cultural connotation and main aesthetic characteristics of wabi-sabi more accurately.Secondly,it expounds the combination of Wabi-Sabi aesthetic concept and B&B development trend,and demonstrates the feasibility of the application of Wabi-Sabi aesthetic concept in modern B&B space design for the first time.At the same time,through the case analysis of three well-known modern Wabi-Sabi B&B,the paper concludes the way of applying the aesthetic concept of Wabi-Sabi in space design,and further demonstrates the feasibility of applying the aesthetic concept of Wabi-Sabi.Based on the above research,Wabi-Sabi selected three concepts from the aesthetic concept of“beauty of simplicity”,“beauty of emptiness”and“beauty of impermanence”,and concluded their extension in space design.At the same time combined with space design elements,such as functional layout,dynamic line planning,light environment design,material color design and display design,respectively elaborated the specific application methods in the design of residential space.The “ simple beauty ” in the aesthetic concept of Wabi-Sabi extends the design concepts of harmony,practicality and environmental protection,which can be applied to the residential space to create a pure and simple space atmosphere of high harmony between man and nature.The“beauty of emptiness”extends to the design concepts of “blank space” and “minimalism”,which can create a peaceful and tranquil space with both the virtual and the real."Beauty of impermanence" extends the design concepts of“asymmetry”and“incomplete”,and accepts the beauty of uncertainty and imperfection.Finally,combined with the location analysis,cultural background analysis and customer group analysis of the design practice project,the summarized application method is used in the project space design for example demonstration.Through theoretical research and design practice,this paper summarizes the aesthetic characteristics of Wabi-Sabi aesthetic concept and how to apply it to the design of homestay space combined with specific spatial elements.Through the research of this subject,I hope to build a modern wabi-sabi homesay with recognizable and cultural connotations,and bring guests calm and simple life scene with simple design,feeling calm and touched,and then get physical relaxation and spiritual comfort.The research results of this subject can also provide theoretical support and practical reference for the application of wabi-sabi aesthetics in the field of interior design,as well as help the government’s rural revitalization strategy,and provide new ideas for rural homesay space design.
