Residential space is the place for "home-based rehabilitation" in the Three-level Rehabilitation Network advocated by the government.Active participation in daily activities in a familiar environment is beneficial for physical and mental rehabilitation of stroke patients. However, the environment without renovation has many obstacles that make patients afraid to enter and unable to act, hindering the improvement of activities of daily living.Among them, the Kitchen-Dining space ranks first. Therefore, there is an urgent need to conduct a systematic theoretical study of the renovation of Kitchen-Dining space for stroke patients’ residences,to guide related renovation practices and help patients carry out Kitchen-Dining behaviors as much as possible, thereby enhancing their independence. This study first elaborated on stroke-related theories, studied the theories and cases of the barrier-free,the aging-friendly,the rehabilitation space renovation. The study population is limited to patients who have undergone home-based rehabilitation, engage in Kitchen-Dining activities, and they are assessed as having mild or moderate disabilities according to Modified Rankin Scale.Secondly, through online and offline interviews with 12 stroke patients, two representatives were selected, respectively,as young and elderly patients for comparative analysis. The relationship between the physical environment and movement experience of the kitchen and dining space in residential areas, orientation, layout, storage design, furniture products, etc.,was established. It was found that the patient’s age, family composition, behavior habits, functional impairment type, rehabilitation degree, etc.affect the macro features and micro-action difficulties of kitchen and dining behaviors.Thirdly, the principles and contents of rehabilitation space renovation for stroke patients based on the residential Kitchen-Dining space were proposed. The four main renovation principles were "people-oriented" "safety and accessibility" "health and comfort" and "life-oriented rehabilitation",focusing on the physical environment, door and window systems, floor plans, storage design, furniture products, etc. Finally, the residential Kitchen-Dining space of young and elderly patient representatives were renovated according to the "one-household-one-case" principle, adhering to space quality construction, responding to different age, family composition, functional impairment, accessibility level, and detail requirements, and jointly verifying the above theoretical research results.Based on theoretical and practical research, the content and details of Kitchen-Dining rehabilitation space renovation for stroke patients have been enriched, providing safe, convenient, comfortable, and healthy Kitchen-Dining space for stroke patient, helping them participate in various Kitchen-Dining activities to a certain extent, and initially achieving the concept of lifeoriented rehabilitation, improving self-care ability, and reducing the burden on families and society. The research results of this project can provide theoretical and practical guidance for people with similar needs and promote the in-depth development of such research. |
