With the vigorous development of the new round of technological and industrial revolution,human society is moving into a new historical era characterized by the datafication of production factors,and more and more countries regard the development of digital economy as an important way to promote sustainable economic development.With the strong support of national policies and the widespread application of digital technologies represented by big data,the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence,the digitalization level of various industries is constantly improving,providing a good opportunity for the transformation and upgrading of China’s manufacturing industry.As a pillar industry in China’s manufacturing industry,the automobile manufacturing industry is facing pressure from changing consumer trends,renewing manufacturing processes and changing business models in the process of development,and digital transformation has become an important strategic choice for industry upgrading and high-quality development of enterprises.FAW Group,one of the four major automobile groups in China,has been actively promoting the digital transformation of the enterprise as the head enterprise in the domestic automobile manufacturing industry.This thesis explores digital transformation in the automotive manufacturing industry and its impact on performance,and uses FAW Group as a case study to specifically analyze the impact on performance in the digital transformation practices of the enterprise.This thesis first introduces the research background and significance,the research content and framework,and compares the relevant literature on digital transformation and its impact on performance by scholars at home and abroad.Secondly,the thesis analyzes the current situation and process of digital transformation in China’s automotive manufacturing industry and the path of impact of transformation on performance.Then FAW Group has been introduced as a case study to analyze the motivation and process of digital transformation of enterprises.On this basis,the impact of FAW Group’s digital transformation on performance is analyzed from three aspects:financial indicators,innovation performance and enterprise value.Based on the above research,the conclusions of this thesis are as follows.Firstly,from the perspective of the digital transformation process and the depth of transformation,the digital transformation of the automotive manufacturing industry will go through three stages: partial digitalization,platform digitalization and ecosystem digitalization,and the appropriate transformation method can be chosen according to the enterprise’s own situation during the digital transformation practice.Secondly,digital transformation in the automotive manufacturing industry has an impact on the performance of enterprises in four aspects: cost reduction,efficiency improvement,technological innovation and management upgrading.At last,under the guidance of the digital transformation strategy,FAW has gradually pushed forward the digital transformation process in phases,achieving improved financial indicators,which made financial indicators improve,innovation output and enterprise value increase.FAW’s experience has provided an empirical basis for the digital transformation of the automotive manufacturing industry and offered reference for value creation in automotive manufacturing enterprises.This thesis enriches digital transformation research results,broadens the research perspective of enterprise performance,complements digital transformation case studies.This thesis provides micro empirical evidence to support the government and relevant departments in formulating policies related to digital transformation,and provides some empirical reference for other enterprises undertaking digital transformation practices.
