With the arrival of the post construction era,the process of new urbanization is gradually transitioning from the urban construction stage to the urban transformation and renewal stage.The construction waterproofing industry has ushered in a favorable opportunity for development,with strong market demand,low entry barriers,and large profit margins,attracting many enterprises to join the waterproofing industry,gradually presenting a "big industry,small enterprises" pattern,and fierce competition.The competitive environment in the building waterproofing material market has gradually become polarized,with the first tier enterprises in the industry going public for financing,presenting company collectivization,diversified investment,and horizontal integration,winning the competitive position in the waterproofing industry chain,and even expanding the global market layout.The small enterprises in the third tier focus on adopting a vertical integration strategy,seizing downstream customer resources in the market,extending downstream,and striving for customer orders.Xi’an YQ Building Materials Company and similar enterprises,which are in the second tier,have achieved certain results in their vertical integration strategy,and the downstream market has stabilized a certain scale of customer resources.The main business adopts a horizontal integration strategy,with diversified products.The sales of waterproof materials account for a high proportion of revenue,and the waterproof engineering business sector has also been expanded.However,there is still a certain gap in corporate competitiveness compared to domestic first-class building waterproof materials companies.In addition,we have just experienced the COVID-19,the rise of raw materials,and the downturn of the market.How to improve the competitiveness of enterprises and strive for better market competitive advantage has become the top priority of the company’s strategic management research.The article first conducts market research and literature research on the building waterproofing industry,comprehensively and accurately grasping external environmental information.Based on the development status of Xi’an YQ Building Materials Company,PEST analysis,internal and external environmental analysis,and competition analysis are conducted.Secondly,drawing on literature research and applying the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)to select evaluation indicators,an evaluation system was established with 5first level indicators,including management ability,financial management,technological innovation,financial management,market operation management,and internal control management,and 17 sub objectives.The expert scoring method and judgment matrix were used to complete the competitiveness evaluation of Xi’an YQ Building Materials Company,and the evaluation results were analyzed in detail and depth,Research has identified the problems with the competitiveness of Xi’an YQ Building Materials Company,including slow development of vertical integration strategy,low level of resource base utilization,insufficient innovation ability,and a lack of senior professional talents.Finally,five strategic suggestions were proposed to clarify the company’s strategic development goals,improve market operation efficiency,enhance comprehensive management capabilities,improve technological innovation capabilities,and increase internal control management efforts.I am a practitioner in the construction waterproofing industry.By conducting this research,I am able to leverage my practical work and industry experience to provide new ideas and perspectives for studying the competitiveness of enterprises in the construction waterproofing material industry.I hope to be validated in the company’s business process and provide theoretical guidance for the formulation of strategic management,competitiveness improvement,and sustainable development of the company,It also provides a model reference for enhancing the competitiveness of similar enterprises in the industry.
