With the acceleration of urban-rural integration process and the promotion of the concept of green low-carbon travel,the current traffic situation of the section of trunk highway through small towns has emerged a new situation.The popularity of electric bicycles has caused non-motorized vehicles to gradually take to the highway to compete with motor vehicles for the right of way,and the phenomenon of mixed traffic between motorized and non-motorized vehicles has seriously affected the efficiency and traffic safety of highways in small towns.First of all,this paper researches the traffic flow characteristics of mixed traffic flow in the section of arterial highway through small towns through field traffic survey and data analysis,and finds that the proportion of non-motorized vehicles in the mixed traffic flow is the biggest influencing factor on the driving speed of mixed traffic flow in arterial highway.Secondly,based on the stochastic mathematical theory and data analysis method,the distribution law of non-motorized travel distance of residents in small towns and the speed dispersion of mixed traffic flow were studied,and based on this,a non-motorized lane setting length calculation model was established to determine the non-motorized lane setting length of arterial roads to meet safety requirements.Thirdly,the reasonable setting range of non-motorized crossing distance is determined by analyzing the movement state of motor vehicles and the psychological characteristics of cyclists when passing through non-motorized crossing openings,and the distance between non-motorized crossing openings and highway entrances is determined based on the perceptual reaction process and driving distance of motor vehicle drivers passing through the entrances,so as to regulate the crossing behavior of non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians and reduce the lateral interference on the highway.Finally,according to the road characteristics of the main highway through the small town section of the regional division,a traffic safety facilities zoning method applicable to the main highway through the small town section is proposed,through the optimization of road traffic safety facilities to further improve road safety.The research results are of theoretical significance and reference value for improving the current situation of mixed traffic between machines and non-machines in the section of trunk highway through small towns,enhancing the efficiency and safety of highway traffic,and improving the setting scheme of traffic safety facilities.
