| In recent years,AI technology has entered a stage of explosive development, rapidly becoming the new protagonist of the fourth round of technological revolution, and triggered the " Machines Replace People" industrial revolution, especially in the field of manufacturing.Such changes will change the spatial demand for industrial development, leading to the evolution of industrial space. It is of great significance to timely grasp the trend of spatial evolution and propose urban planning strategies for proactive guidance. Therefore, this article explores the impact of "Machines Replace People" on manufacturing space through historical review, qualitative and quantitative analysis.First, this paper reviews the evolution of urban industrial space under the previous technological revolution, and finds that the Industrial Revolution and the Information Technology Revolution caused the evolution of urban industrial space mainly through the reconstruction of the urban industrial system, which were respectively reflected in that the prosperity of industrial economy promotes the formation of industrial space model in Industrial City, and the prosperity of service economy promotes the formation of industrial space model in post-Industrial City.Through historical review,I formed the analytical framework of "technological revolution → industrial revolution → urban industrial space evolution".Based on this framework,in terms of the mechanism,I summarized that "Machines Replace People" will promote the optimization of manufacturing production processes, reduction of labor input, improvement of production efficiency, and upgrading of industrial systems, and then I inferred the possible evolution trend of manufacturing space under the influence of "Machines Replace People",which was summarized as three spatial location evolution models: "service oriented","transportation oriented",and "technology oriented".In qualitative analysis, this article conducts empirical analysis in Dongguan City, where manufacturing industry and "Machines Replace People" were developed.Based on comparative experiments,a series of spatial analysis tools were used to describe and compare the spatial evolution of manufacturing industries with different degrees of "Machines Replace People".It was found that from the perspective of spatial distribution pattern, the manufacturing industry that has carried out "Machines Replace People" is more likely to cluster in Songshan Lake High tech Zone or its surrounding areas, where the scientific and technological innovation environment is good and the Artificial intelligence is developing rapidly; From the perspective of spatial location, the manufacturing industries that had carried out "Machines Replace People" has relatively reduced their dependence on residential space, and become more inclined to layout near commercial enterprises, productive service industries, and external transportation hubs, but aren’t inclined to layout near technological innovation institutions and "Machines Replace People" related enterprises.Besides,a typical case study shows that after "Machines Replace People" the manufacturing enterprise attached more importance to the level of productive services, living service and service about "Machines Replace People" when selecting new site.Empirical analysis from different perspectives has jointly confirmed that the evolution of manufacturing industry space has shown a trend of "technology oriented" after "Machines Replace People" at macro scale, and shown a trend of "service oriented","transportation oriented",and "intelligent technology oriented" at meso or micro scale. Finally, based on empirical results, urban planning strategies are proposed for the spatial evolution of the manufacturing industry under the influence of "Machines Replace People",including:Adjusting the spatial relationship between industries and cities based on changes in manufacturing spatial demand;Based on the principle of putting people first, consider forming an intelligent transportation system that includes more scenarios. |
