Under the policy guidance of rural revitalization strategy to guide the development of rural space, the optimization of rural public space is particularly important for the inheritance of the characteristics of the multi-ethnic villages in the northwest, and the influence of social relations on the rural public space in Longwu River Valley makes it necessary to study the public space in this region from the perspective of social network. This paper focuses on the real problem that rural public spaces in multi-ethnic areas do not meet the needs of social structure and public activities, and uses social network analysis and spatial analysis as the research object. The study also proposes strategies for optimizing rural public space, and makes up for the research on the optimization of rural public space in multi-ethnic areas at the quantitative level. The first and second chapters are the research overview and theoretical support part of this paper, which clarify the research background, research purpose, and research framework of this paper, and focus on the social network theory and method, and analyze the feasibility of using the social network perspective for the optimization of rural public space in Longwu River Valley from the theoretical and practical levels. The third chapter is the part of this paper that raises questions.Based on the superposition of multiple social structures in the villages of Longwu Valley, the 18 administrative villages are divided into faith-based villages,geo-integrated villages, and business-integrated villages, and Ga Sha Ri and Dong Ganmu,Chengnei and Xiangyang villages are selected as typical villages based on morphological characteristics and village scale. The three problems that need to be solved are: insufficient spatial representation of faith-based social structure, low utilization rate of top-down new public spaces, and mismatch between spatial homogeneity and social externality.Chapter 4 is the analytical part of the paper. This part focuses on the evaluation of the correlation between the three levels of public space "society-activity-space" at the level of social network theory and methodology, and analyzes the starting points of public space to be optimized.Firstly,we analyze the characteristics of social networks and public activities in three types of typical villages and summarize the influence of different social networks on public activities;secondly,we construct models and calculate indicators for each type of village’s public space use network and public space structure network, summarize the characteristics of public space by comparing the two networks, and evaluate the correlation between public space and social networks and public activities. The problems were found to be caused by the lack of correlation at the functional, structural, and morphological levels.Chapter 5 is the problem-solving part of this paper.According to the results of the correlation evaluation, the optimization of the rural public space in Longwu Valley is proposed, and the optimization of the villages clustered with faith,geo-edge and business edge is summarized as follows: strengthening the cultural embodiment of space, creating a dominant system of "geo-edge",and highlighting the interaction and circulation characteristics. We propose specific optimization strategies in terms of function, structure and form, and finally summarize the overall optimization strategies of the rural public space in Longwu Valley.
