The airport terminal is an important transport building for land and air connections, mainly responsible for the transfer of passengers between land and air transport modes and the gathering and dispersal of vehicles. The departure streamline is the route from the entrance of the terminal to the boarding gate, and usually includes fixed services such as check-in and security screening,as well as waiting and stopping activities during the process. As the volume of air passenger traffic increases and the size of the terminal expands, the phenomenon of long departure streamline and crossed routes is becoming increasingly prominent,to a certain extent affecting the efficiency of passenger routing, resulting in long passenger stays at the airport and increasing the pressure of queues in service areas. Therefore, how to optimize the passenger departure streamline in terminals is of practical significance to solve the current problems related to terminal departure streamline. The main research work in this paper is as follows:(1)Analyze the basic functions of the terminal building and departure streamline, summarize the characteristics of passengers’ wayfinding behavior and traffic behavior based on the analysis of the spatial layout form and spatial visual effect of the terminal building, quantitatively analyze the departure flow lines and functional layout problems by combining spatial syntax, and dig out the bottleneck problems of departure streamline.(2)Based on passenger wayfinding behavior, the traffic impedance of the departure network is calculated by taking into account differential factors such as passenger congestion and baggage size, and a Logit-SUE model is constructed to describe the traffic distribution of passengers in the departure network. At the same time, the influence of external information guidance on passenger path selection is considered, and a signage-informationled adjustment model for wayfinding selection is established to improve the accuracy of passenger wayfinding.(3)Based on the principle of streamline optimization, the streamline optimization strategies are proposed in terms of process and facility service capacity.Using the reliability analysis method, six parameters related to the terminal building are selected as evaluation indicators from fluency, timeliness and comfort, and an evaluation system based on fuzzy hierarchical analysis is established to comprehensively evaluate the level of departure streamline organization.(4)The domestic departure check-in hall of WX airport is selected as a case study to verify and analyze the streamline optimization method.By constructing a simulation model of the check-in hall, simulating the current situation and optimizing the two solutions and conducting a comprehensive evaluation, the evaluation results show that the overall efficiency of the optimized and adjusted departure streamline has been improved, the vertical road passage function of the check-in area has been restored, and the smoothness, timeliness and comfort of the passenger streamline have been improved. From the perspective of passenger wayfinding, this paper conducts an optimization study on the functional layout and passenger path selection in the departure streamline of the terminal building. The traffic characteristics of passengers and the spatial layout of the terminal building are analyzed,a signage-information-guided wayfinding model is established based on passenger characteristics, and an evaluation system for the level of departure streamline organization is set up.The result analysis shows that the proposed flow optimization system is feasible and practical, which can effectively reduce the dwell time of passengers in the service process and improve the operational efficiency and convenience of the passenger departure process.
