Greenways received attention as an effective way to practice the concept of ecological civilization and green development. However,it`s ecological function and the significance of biodiversity has been ignored in the process of practical construction. At the same time, how to balance the improvement of biodiversity protection and human needs should be considered.Plant community is an important medium for exerting ecological value. This thesis focused on the greenway plant community and took different types of greenways in Hangzhou as the research object, and integrated plant diversity and plant landscape perception,in order to explore the optimization strategies based on plant diversity for different types of greenways.Firstly, this thesis reviewed the relevant domestic and international theoretical research on greenways, and divided greenways into urban greenways and suburban greenways according to their regional location, and selected the West Lake Greenway and Qingshan Lake Greenway as typical representatives of the Hangzhou region.Basic data were collected by using the method of plant ecological sample plot survey and the questionnaire survey, and R 4.2.2 and SPSS 26.0 software platforms were used for sample comparisons to explore the plant diversity and community structure of different types of greenways and the commonness and differences of tourists’ cognitive preferences of plant landscape. There were 145 species of plants recorded in the West Lake Greenway,of which 49.68% were spontaneous plants;.A total of 254 species of plants was recorded in the Qingshan Lake Greenway, with a ratio of 1:2.08:5.33 for trees, shrubs, and grasses,of which 79.13% were spontaneous plants The Gramineae,Rosaceae, and Compositae families were dominant species in these two greenway. The species richness and plant diversity of the Qingshan Lake greenway was significantly higher than those of the West Lake greenway, and the biggest difference was reflected in the grass layer. The diversity of plant species composition of the self growing and cultivated plants in the lakeside wet areas was the biggest difference, mainly due to the differences in landscape functions, surrounding environment and human interference in different locations. In terms of spatial construction of plant landscapes, the spatial sense, landscape hierarchy, and color of the West Lake Greenway were more prominent; The plant landscape space of the Qingshan Lake Greenway was more suitable for tourists’ ecological recreational services.Visitors were eager for different recreation and visual experiences on different greenways, visual ornamental features have the greatest influence on the preference of plant landscape, followed by spatial composition features and the perception of plant diversity.Plant diversity can be perceived by the general public, but the vertical structure and species of plants were the main concerns of people’s cognition of plant diversity, and color richness was the clue for people to assess species richness. The construction of plant space can promote visitors to the overall environment. When the setting of recreation space can fully meet the needs of visitors for various activities, visitors have a high acceptance of the plant community landscape formed by spontaneous plants.Based on the existing issues of plant diversity and landscape in different greenways, this thesis proposed targeted strategies for optimizing plant landscape and plant application in urban and suburban greenways.Urban greenways proposed optimization strategies such as improving the diversity of native and native plants, increasing the species of herbaceous plants, constructing near naturalized communities, and enhancing landscape;Rural greenways would enhance their ecological functions through forest care measures, building natural native plant communities, and achieving biodiversity functional support.
