Research On The Texture Elements Of Traditional Stone House Settlements In Shitang

The traditional stone house settlements are widely distributed in Shitang,Wenling,Zhejiang Province.The unique geographical environment has formed a unique texture of stone house settlements with distinctive regional characteristics,which is of great research value.This article explores the elements of the Shitang stone house settlement texture through field research and literature review.Based on Figure-ground Relation Theory and the Sciences of Human Settlements,the basic characteristics of settlement texture are summarized as texture skeleton,directionality,and density,and the settlement texture elements are classified into three levels: social,production,and living elements.Firstly,at the social element level,the relationship between folk beliefs and settlement texture is analyzed,and folk belief temples are divided into two levels: super-village temples and village temples based on the theory of sacrificial circles.The characteristics of the texture under the joint action of temples of different levels and settlements are explored.Secondly,at the level of production elements,the docks are the most important production element in Shitang.By studying the relationship between different types of docks and settlements,the relationship between docks and settlement texture is explored.Finally,at the level of living elements,the relationship between the street spaces,wells,watchtower,and settlement texture is explored through the study of the street pattern,freshwater system,and defense system in Shitang settlements.Based on the above three levels of elements,the formation and characteristics of the Shitang stone house settlement texture are summarized.The research results of this article supplement the research on stone house settlements in the southeast coast of Zhejiang,and also have some reference value for the protection and development of traditional settlements.
