With the rapid development of the pet market, the number of pets is increasing year by year, and pet diseases are also increasing. The number of domestic cats is increasing by about 30%every year. With the large growth rate and the lack of knowledge about keeping cats, there are a lot of upper respiratory diseases in cats.Symptoms are various, mainly appeared in the increase of eye secretions, corneal ulcers, nasal secretions, serious and even thick nasal fluid, oral mouth will be accompanied by stomatitis, some cats will have high body temperature and so on.Through investigation and study, bacterial infection, also allergy can cause these kinds of symptoms of cats respiratory infection,as well as viruses.Through the clinical research and diagnosis,it was showed that cats caused to these kinds of symptoms, mainly infected by feline herpesvirus(FHV)and feline calicivirus(FCV).In order to better improve the level of pet medical treatment,we investigated the epidemiology of FHV and FCV in domestic cats in Shanghai, and the prognostic effects of different treatment methods on the disease.A total of 500 PCR samples of FHV and FCV were collected from three pet hospitals in Shanghai. These 500 samples were all taken from the mouth, nose and eye secretions of the infected cats with sterile cotton swabs, and the results were detected by PCR instruments, and the results of the 500 PCR samples were investigated.Analysis of the 500 cats showed an 85%detection positive rate of FHV and/or FCV,including 57.8%detection positive rate of FHV,and 27.2%detection positive rate of FCV,meanwhile 9.8%co-infection positive rate of both viruses. Then the 500 PCR reports were classified and studied from different genders, ages, breeds and immune status, and the investigation results showed that FHV and FCV infection in cats were related to the age of cats to a certain extent, and it was also found that FHV infection was directly related to whether cats were immune.Infection with FCVS was not directly related to whether cats were vaccinated.Cats infected by FHV and FCV were sheltered two groups for treatment.Fifty cats infected by FHV with the age 0 to 6 months were selected and divided into two groups, all of which were not vaccinated.Twenty-five cats in the first group were treated with a nutritional cream and high immunosuppressive factor,as well as the oral anti-inflammatory drug Sonomol.Twenty-five cats in the second group were treated with oral famiclovir and doxycline, subcutaneous injection of W-interferon,and eye drops of ganciclovir.Through follow-up visits and follow-up visits, the cats with FHV treated in the second group recovered faster and had normal re-examination indicators, and did not relapse for a longer period of time.Thirty unvaccinated cats infected by FCV with the age from 0 to 6 months were divided into two groups.15 cats to take the first set of feed nutrition cream and high factor and free of oral anti-inflammatory drugs for treatment, the second group of 15 cats using oral doxycycline, subcutaneous injection,w-interferon treatment with oral spray into oral cavity, through review and follow-up,patients with FCV cats treatment were good, the second group was normal, and no relapse again for a long time.Through this investigation, the results indicated that domestic cats in Shanghai had a relatively high probability of infection with FHV and FCV,and therapeutic methods should be distinguished and strengthened in clinical practice.
