Epidenmiological Investigation And Disease Diagnosis And Treatment Of Five Pathogensinfecting Cats Upper Respiratory Tract In Kunming City

Feline upper respiratory tract(FURTD)is one of the most frequently occurring diseases among small animals.Infectious pathogen,it is mainly inducement.Among them,the most frequent pathogens are Feline Herpesvirus type 1(FHV-1),Feline calicivirus(FCV),Chlamydophila felis(Cf),Mycoplasma felis(Mf)and Bordetella bronchiseptica(Bb).The symptoms of FURTD in cats mainly include sneezing,runny nose,cough,fever,eye inflammation including conjunctivitis or keratitis,and oral ulcers.FURTD poses a serious threat to the health of cats.Although there has been a lot of epidemiologic researches about FURTD in recent 50 years,there is few domestic literature about it,and the area epidemiology information is rarely reported.In order to understand the epidemiological situation and related factors of FHV-1,FCV,Cf,Mf,and Bb the cats treated in animal hospitals and clinics in urban areas of Kunming were selected as subjects of investigation in present study.It is expected to provide some reference data for the prevention and treatment of FURTD in Kunming.In present study,1387 cases cats sufferring from FURTD in 100 animal hospitals in Kunming were comparatively analyzed,according to different age,different sex,different pathogen infection,and the treatment of typical cases.The data in different age groups indicated that,55.01% of the cases were 0-1 years old,25.96% were1-2 years old,18.46% were 2-3 years old,and 0.58% were over 3 years old.In terms of sex,61.79%were male and 38.21% were female.The investigation of the infectious pathogen found that 313 cases were FHV-1 positive(22.57%),653 cases were FCV positive(47.08%),99 cases were Cf positive(7.14%),566 cases were Mf positive(40.81%),168 cases were Bb positive(12.11%).The rate of mixed infection was 59.91%.the rate of single pathogen was 35.26%.And the total negative rate of five pathogens was 4.83%.In the treatment of typical cases,PCR detection of infected cats is the best way to screen for pathogens.The best way to treat the cases of cats upper respiratory tract infection is according to the results of PCR and clinical symptoms,selective medication.The cure rate can reach more than 85% with recombinant cat IFN-ω in the cases of viral infection.The cats infected with Cf,Mf,and Bbwere cured with doxycycline hydrochloride for 1-2 weeks.
