Investigation Of Respiratory Diseases In Cats And Analysis Of Typical Cases In Urumqi

Feline upper respiratory tract disease(FURTD)is a common clinical problem in cats,which may impair their health and even bring death.Inaccurate diagnosis of FURTD and improper medication are the main causes of death in cats.Therefore,it is necessary to determine the prevalence of FURTU in cats and take varied treatment according to different pathogens to save the lives of cats.A full history of 140 FURTD cases at 23 animal hospitals in Urumqi were recorded,which including i ncident ages,breeds,vaccination,pathogen infections,treatment,and prognosis.Statistical analysis showed that the incidence rates of FURTD in March to May,June to August,September to November and Decemb er to February were 34.29%,17.14%,11.43% and 37.14% in turn.The incidence rates of FURTD occurred i n 0～1 years old cats,1～2 years old cats,2～3 years old cats and above 3 years old cats were 60%,22.86%,8.57%,8.57% in turn.The incidence rates of FURTD in Domestic Shorthair,British Shorthair,Sphinx and R agdoll,American Shorthair,Siamese,Maine Coon were 31.43%,28.57%,11.43%,8.57%,5.71%,2.86% in turn.The incidence rates of FURTD in cats which received 0 doses of vaccine,single doses of vaccines,twi ce doses of vaccines and three doses of vaccines were 51.43%,25.00%,15.00%,and 8.57% in turn.The in cidence rates of FURTD caused by feline herpes virus,feline calicivirus,chlamydia,bacteria,and mixed inf ection with virus,mycoplasma and bacteria were 37.14%,45.71%,11.43%,25.71% and 48.57%,respectiv ely.Polymerase chain reaction is still the gold standard for the diagnosis of FURTD.The positive result combined with clinical symptoms and targeted treatments are the most effective way to recovery FURTD.For cases infected by feline virus,applying recombinant feline IFN-ω at initial phase can make the treatment over 80%,while cases caused by bacterial infection,antibiotic resistance should be considered,and Typical cases used Clindamycin got a welled therapy effect.
