| China’s per capita arable land resources are small, mountainous areas are widely distributed, slope arable land ratio is significant, production and farming conditions are poor. With the rapid development of social economy, rural population is constantly transferred to cities and towns, and agricultural labor force is transferred to non-agricultural industries. The loss of a large number of labor force, labor force precipitation becomes the direct cause of arable land abandonment. In order to further realize the protection of cultivated land resources and food security, the problems of abandoned arable land were studied comprehensively from two aspects:spatial and temporal changes of spatial pattern and factors of arable land abandoned. In this paper, the spatial pattern change of abandoned Langzhong City in Sichuan Province was selected as the research object.Based on the land use database and field investigation from 2009 to 2019,using GIS spatial analysis method, land use type transfer matrix method, land use type dynamic analysis, kernel density estimation and other methods to analyze the spatio-temporal change of abandoned land and its influencing factors. The main contents and results of the study are as follows:(1)According to the dynamic analysis of land use types, the dynamic trend of unused land and arable land were negative from 2009 to 2019,which were-2.84%and-2.77%respectively,indicating that these two types of land were in a state of negative growth and decline.(2)Langzhong City saw an overall increase in arable land abandonment from 2009to 2019.At the town scale, the abandonment situation was very small from 2009 to2015.The most abandoned towns were Pengcheng town located in the hilly area(7.54hm~2),followed by Siyi town,Wencheng town and Laogan town in the low mountainous area. From 2015 to 2019,siyi town had the most arable land abandoned in 1177.26 hm~2,followed by Jiangnan Street,Laogan town,Qianfu town and Wencheng town, etc.Baoning Street had the least arable land abandoned. In general, the intensity of abandoned land in each township is affected by topography.(3)The intensity of arable land abandonment was higher than that of paddy field abandonment, and the distribution of arable land abandonment was concentrated. From the results of kernel density study,it can be seen that the spatial distribution of arable land abandonment in Langzhong City is concentrated in Qiaolou town,Mulan town,Siyi town, the north of Jiangnan Street,Shaxi Street and other towns from 2009 to 2015.From 2015 to 2019,it was mainly distributed in Qiaolou town,Siyi ttown, the northern part of Jiangnan Street and the northern part of Feifeng town, and the kernel density value increased. The high-value areas of arable land in the two periods are mainly concentrated in the low mountainous areas with large topography, high elevation and poor farming conditions in the study area, while the middle-low value areas are mainly distributed in the hilly areas in the central and southern part of the study area.It can be seen that topographic and geomorphic factors have an important effect on the spatial distribution characteristics of abandoned arable land to a certain extent.(4)Analysis of different traffic, irrigation, farming radius, landform, gradient under the condition of space distribution of abandoned arable land can see Langzhong abandoned arable land mainly in 200 m from the area, from roads and irrigation farming from 0 to 50 m range, low mountains,between>15°and 25°slope,slope to the slope of the arable land are easy to be abandoned. The study found that social and economic factors are the direct cause of arable land abandonment, but the physical geography factors are the important cause of the spatio-temporal difference of arable land abandonment, and the physical geography factors react on the social and economic factors. The degree and speed of social and economic factors affecting farmland abandonment are determined by the physical geography factors.Arable land abandonment is caused by social and economic factors and natural geographical factors.(5)In the process of arable land abandonment management,we should further understand the characteristics of spatial-temporal variation of arable land abandonment under the background of regional differences. And the influencing factors that cause the difference of characteristics.Scientifically analyze the relationship between cultivated land change and food security.According to local conditions in strengthening the policy to ensure the adjustment of industrial layout to implement capital investment to improve infrastructure four aspects of specific governance measures.Effectively revitalize abandoned arable land, protect cultivated arable land resources, and ensure food production safety. |
