Investigation And Analysis Of Ancient Ginkgo Tree Resources In Xuanbao Zone,Taixing,China

Ginkgo biloba is a famous landscape tree species in China,with high ornamental,economic,ecological,and scientific research value.Ginkgo trees have a long lifespan,and a large number of ancient trees are widely distributed across China.Ancient trees are irreplaceable and non-renewable natural resources,as well as precious historical and cultural heritage.However,there are few studies on ancient ginkgo tree resources,and many areas lack comprehensive protection measures,causing some ancient ginkgo trees dying or already dead.Taixing area is known as the land of ginkgo in China,with a long history of cultivation and rich ancient tree resources.Ancient ginkgo trees in Taixing are mainly distributed in areas such as Xuanbao area.Therefore,this paper selects the Xuanbao area of Taixing to carry out investigations and protection studies on ancient ginkgo tree resources,analyzes existing problems and solutions,and the expected outputs can promote the sustainable development of ancient tree protection,as well as protect the ecological environment and culture of ancient trees.Based on consulting Taixing local chronicles and other historical literature,this study investigated the ancient ginkgo trees in the Xuanbao Town area and their surrounding environment via interview,survey,measurement,and analysis.The growth data and status of ancient trees are recorded and statistically analyzed.The main results are as follows.1.A systematic review of the natural conditions,development history,and culture of Taixing’s ginkgo development was conducted,as well as the historical development process of Taixing ginkgo was analyzed.2.The distribution of 6,257 ancient ginkgo trees in the Xuanbao area of Taixing was investigated and counted.All grade 1 and grade 2 ancient trees and some grade 3 ancient trees were surveyed on site,measuring and recording their distribution,growth data,and protective status.The height,DBH(diameter at breast height),and crown width of the tree were measured and statistically analyzed.The management status of ancient trees in Xuanbao Town was recorded.3.The growth and health status of the surveyed ancient ginkgo trees were recorded and photographed,and the maintenance problems of ancient trees were analyzed.The main problems include unreasonable planting structure,failure to strictly enforce ancient tree protection regulations,incomplete ancient tree archives,insufficient investment in protection funds,and insufficient attention.4.Based on the current situation of existing ancient trees in the Xuanbao area and in combination with ancient tree protection theory,protection measures and suggestions for ancient ginkgo trees in Xuanbao Town were proposed.The main protection suggestions include promoting ginkgo ancient tree culture,enhancing ancient tree value,improving the growth condition of ancient trees,strengthening legislation and management,establishing archive construction,increasing investment in protection funds,and enhancing publicity efforts and protection awareness.This study has investigated the basic situation and protection status of ancient ginkgo trees in Xuanbao area,and the results are expected to provide valuable references and suggestions for the conservation of ancient ginkgo trees in Taixing.
