Promoting arable land quality protection behavior to reduce agricultural pollution and improve arable land quality is one of the challenges of current agricultural production.With the development of China’s agricultural modernization,the protection and construction of good arable land quality has become a fundamental way for China’s healthy economic development and guaranteeing food security.As direct subjects of agricultural production and operation,farmers’ behavioral choices play a crucial role in the quality of arable land and agricultural development.Therefore,this study takes the differentiation of farmers’ operation scale as the entry point to analyze the influencing factors of farmers’ adoption of arable land quality protection behavior and provide reference for the formulation of related policies.Based on the literature on farmers’ farmland quality protection behavior at home and abroad,based on 345 farmers’ research data in Jinshi City,Hunan Province,and uses a binary probit model to empirically analyze the influence of management scale on farmers’ farmland quality protection behavior adoption from the perspective of farmers’ classification and explore The results show that:(1)the scale of operation has an impact on the adoption of farmland quality protection behavior.The results show that(1)the expansion of operation scale promotes farmers’ cropland quality protection behavior,and the promotion effect of the expansion of operation scale on farmers’adoption of soil testing fertilizer exists at the smallholder level.(2)For small-scale farmers,the adoption of soil-measured formula fertilizer is significantly influenced by the scale of land operation,annual household income,the number of farm machinery owned,the number of village publicity campaigns,and the number of restraint regulations;the adoption of organic fertilizer is significantly influenced by the education level,annual household income,the number of village cadres in the household,and the number of agricultural technology training.(3)For large-scale farmers,the adoption of soil testing fertilizer was significantly influenced by the number of laborers,the number of farm machinery owned,the number of agricultural technology training,and the concern for arable land quality protection;the adoption of organic fertilizer was significantly influenced by the scale of land operation,the number of village cadres in the household,and the township to which the farmer belonged.(4)Comparing the factors influencing the adoption of arable land quality protection by small-scale farmers and large-scale farmers,we found that the number of machines had a significant effect on the adoption of soil testing and fertilizer by both small-scale and large-scale farmers,and the number of village cadres in the household had a significant effect on the adoption behavior of both small-scale and large-scale farmers.(5)Farmers with different locational characteristics differ significantly in their adoption of arable land quality conservation behaviors.Based on this,this thesis proposes that the promotion of arable land protection behavior should be combined with technical characteristics,and precise solutions should be formulated for different types of farmers to build a differentiated technical promotion system;increase support for arable land quality protection technology training,and enhance farmers’ knowledge of arable land protection and chemical fertilizer reduction to jointly promote the adoption of arable land quality protection behavior by farmers.The quality protection behavior of farmers is realized.
