The purpose of this experiment was to evaluate the nutritional value of peanut vine and peanut meal as feed materials for fattening sheep.Experiment 1:32 fattening lambs aged 3-4 months were randomly divided into 4 groups with 8repetitions in each group. The control group(Ⅰgroup)was fed with basic diet, and experimental groups(group II,group III and group IV)were fed with peanut seedlings instead of 1/3,2/3 and 3/3 alfalfa. The feeding period last 90 days.Body weight of each animal was weighed every 30 days, and venous blood was collected for the determination of blood biochemical indexes. At the end of feeding test, rumen fluid was collected before morning feeding for the determination of fermentation indexes.Three sheep in each group were randomly selected for slaughter for the determination of meat quality. The results showed that the meat p H(24h)ofⅣgroup was significantly lower than that ofⅠandⅡgroup(P<0.05);The meat color(45min)ofⅡgroup andⅣgroup decreased significantly(P<0.05);On the 60th and 90th days, the content of BUN inⅢgroup was significantly higher than that inⅠgroup(P<0.05);The p H of rumen fluid inⅢgroup was significantly lower than that in other groups(P<0.05);The concentration of NH3-N inⅠgroup was significantly higher than that inⅣgroup(P<0.05)and very significantly higher than that inⅡgroup(P<0.01);The contents of acetate, propionate and TVFA inⅢgroup were significantly higher than those inⅠgroup andⅣgroup(P<0.01),and the contents of butyrate and valerate inⅢgroup were significantly higher than those inⅣgroup(P<0.01);The contents of isobutyrate and isovalerate in each experimental group were significantly different from those inⅠgroup(P<0.01);The gross profit of the experimental groups increased by 79,20 and 51 yuan/sheep respectively.Experiment 2:24 fattening lambs aged 2-3 months were randomly divided into 3 groups with 8repetitions in each group. The control group(Ⅰgroup)was fed with basic diet, and the experimental groups(group II and group III)were fed with peanut meal instead of 1/2 and 2/2 soybean meal and cottonseed meal. The feeding period last 90 days,Body weight of each animal was weighed every 30days,and venous blood was collected for the determination of blood biochemical indexes. At the end of feeding test, rumen fluid was collected before morning feeding for the determination of fermentation indexes.Three sheep in each group were randomly selected for slaughter for the determination of meat quality. The results showed that the muscle p H(1h)ofⅡgroup andⅢgroup was significantly lower than that ofⅠgroup(P<0.05);The cooked meat rate ofⅢgroup was significantly lower(P<0.05),and the shear force ofⅡgroup was significantly higher than that ofⅠgroup(P<0.05).On the 60th day,the BUN content inⅡgroup andⅢgroup was significantly higher than that inⅠgroup(P<0.05);The p H of rumen fluid inⅡgroup was significantly higher than that inⅠgroup(P<0.05),the content of acetate inⅠgroup was significantly higher than that inⅡgroup(P<0.01),significantly higher than that inⅢgroup(P<0.05),the content of isobutyrate inⅡgroup was significantly lower than that inⅠgroup andⅢgroup(P<0.05),the content of isovalerate inⅡgroup was significantly lower than that inⅠgroup andⅢgroup(P<0.01),and the content of TVFA inⅡgroup was significantly lower than that inⅠgroup(P<0.05);The A/P ofⅡgroup andⅢgroup was significantly lower than that ofⅠgroup(P<0.01);The gross profit ofⅡgroup andⅢgroup increased by 101 and 43 yuan/sheep.In summary, there was no significant effect on the growth performance and slaughter performance of fattening sheep by replacing alfalfa with peanut vine, soybean meal and cottonseed meal with peanut meal.Through the comprehensive analysis of the effects on blood biochemistry, rumen fermentation, meat quality and economic benefits,it was found that replacing 1/3 alfalfa with peanut vine, and replacing 1/2 soybean meal and cottonseed meal with peanut meal had the best feeding effect.
