Research On The Current Situation And Protection Measures Of Ancient And Famous Tree Resources In Wuhua County

Ancient and famous trees have extremely high ecological,cultural,conservation,and scientific research value.Wuhua County is located in the hilly area of eastern Guangdong,with a subtropical monsoon humid climate,abundant rainfall and sufficient light energy.The soil is mainly red soil,which has created a large number of ancient and famous trees in Wuhua County.This article studies the ecological environment resources and management status of ancient and famous trees in the county from three aspects: natural factors,human factors,and other factors.The research results show that:1.Ancient trees have good growth potential and site environment,but most of them grow in deep mountains.Due to the steep mountain roads and outdated technology,the positioning of ancient and famous trees,as well as the identification of their DBH,height,crown width,and age,as well as death,all pose certain difficulties,and the protection facilities are not perfect enough.2.There are a wide variety of ancient and famous trees,with the Fagaceae family being the most divided by family and genus.In order of quantity,they are: Moriaceae,Hamamelidaceae,Camelliaceae,etc.The genus with the highest number of trees is the Vertebrae genus of the Fagaceae family,followed by the Ficus genus of the Moriaceae family.The existing first,second,and third level ancient trees and famous trees are in a pyramid shape,with the most being third level ancient trees indicating abundant reserve resources,evenly distributed in each town,and most of them belong to collective ownership.3.In terms of comprehensive evaluation of the health of ancient and famous trees,the vast majority of ancient trees are thriving and lush,while a small number of ancient trees have weaker growth potential,with their trunks rotting or partially rotting,sparse branches and leaves,and overall growth potential threatened.4.The most representative ancient trees are Yarong,which is the oldest(850 years old)and has a chest circumference(11.92m)and is located in Guotian Town.The highest tree height(31m)is the ancient hook cone in Shuanghua Town,and the largest crown width(46.5m)is the ancient rong in Tanxia Town.5.The main problems with ancient trees in Wuhua County are natural pests and diseases,cultural and environmental issues,information acquisition issues,and management and protection technology issues.Based on the actual situation,corresponding measures are proposed to address the above issues,such as strengthening daily maintenance,mitigating natural disasters and pests,improving the site environment,strengthening publicity and education,raising public awareness of protection,strengthening measures for the maintenance and rejuvenation of ancient and famous trees,strict law enforcement,improving the protection system,and increasing investment in protecting ancient and famous trees.
