Effect Of Qingda Granules On Mild To Moderate Anxiety In Patients With Grade 1 Hypertension

Objective: To evaluate the effect of Qingda granules on mild to moderate anxiety state of patients with grade 1 hypertension by observing the efficacy and safety of Qingda granules in the treatment of these patients.Methods: This study came from a national multi-center,large-sample clinical trial.Our hospital participated in the study as a sub-center.It was designed as a randomized,double-blind,double-dummy,parallel-controlled,non-inferior clinical study.A total of 40 patients with grade 1 hypertension with liver-yang hyperactivity syndrome were included and randomly divided into the experimental group(n=23)and the control group(n=17).The control group was given Valsartan Capsules 80 mg qd and Qingda Granules simulant 5g bid,while the experimental group was given Qingda Granules and Valsartan Capsules simulants.The changes in clinical blood pressure,24-hour ambulatory blood pressure,and Hamilton Anxiety Scale scores at the 4th and8 th weekends after treatment were used as outcome indicators.Results: The baseline characteristics were comparable between the two groups before treatment(P > 0.05);after 4 weeks of treatment,the systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreased significantly compared with prior treatment in the different two groups which were the clinical blood pressure and 24 h ambulatory blood pressure(P < 0.01),and both of them were no obvious difference(P > 0.05).Blood pressure in both groups returned to the baseline in 4 weeks after drug withdrawal(P > 0.05);the scores of Hamilton Anxiety Scale in the experimental group showed statistically significant difference between before and after 4 weeks of treatment(P < 0.05),but not showed in the control group(P > 0.05).The scores of Hamilton Anxiety Scale had statistically differences between the groups of the after 4 weeks’ treatment(P < 0.01),after 4 weeks of drug withdrawal,the total score and mental anxiety factor score of the experimental group were still lower than those before treatment(P < 0.01);all the patients were not occurred the adverse events during the whole course of the clinical trial.Conclusion: Compared with valsartan capsule,Qingda granule alone has a non inferior antihypertensive effect in patients with liver-yang hyperactivity syndrome of grade 1 hypertension for 4 weeks;Qingda granule alone can significantly improve the anxiety state for 4 weeks,and there is still a follow-up effect on the anxiety state after 4 weeks of drug withdrawal.
