Objective:Due to the unique metabolic effects of eccentric training,it has attracted increasing attention and application.This form of exercise is unique,as it requires muscles to generate contraction force to control the speed of the body’s descent,while also resisting the forces of gravity and inertia.This eccentric exercise generates a higher mechanical tension and metabolic stress increasing the risk of muscle fatigue and exercise-induced muscle damage.Jilin ginseng,a special local product of Jilin Province,has been shown to alleviate exercise fatigue and reduce the risk of exercise-induced muscle damage.Therefore,in this study,we aimed to investigate whether Jilin ginseng powder can reduce the risk of exercise-induced muscle damage in women and its effects on sports performance.Methods:This study used a randomized,double-blind,parallel-controlled trial,and twenty female college students were randomly assigned to the Ginseng group(GS)and the Placebo group.Subjects orally consumed 2g of Jilin ginseng powder or placebo before breakfast every day for 6 weeks(42 days).Each subject underwent Whole Body Composition Test,Blood Biochemistry test,Drop Jump test,and Maximum Oxygen Uptake test in the laboratory on day 0 before supplementation and day 42 after supplementation.The data of blood biochemistry and Maximum Oxygen Uptake test were statistically analyzed by one-way ANOVA.A mixed-design two-way ANOVA was used to analyze the changes of various indicators in pre-test(before supplement)and post-test(42 days after supplement),taking supplement condition and time as independent variables.Results:After post-test,compared with placebo group,the serum levels of free fatty acid and glucose in GS group were significantly increased after VO2 Max test(P<0.05;P<0.05).And VO2 Max(P<0.0001),Time to Exhaustion(P<0.001),and O2 Pulse per beat(P<0.05)were significantly increased.In the Drop Jump test,the jump height of GS group was significantly increased by 22.7%(P<0.05)and 30.0%(P<0.05)compared with the pre-test at the 70 DJs and 80 DJs.The reactive strength index was significantly increased by 10.9%(P<0.05)and 12.9%(P<0.05),respectively.In addition,the joint stiffness of knee joint and ankle joint was decreased in the GS group(P<0.05;P<0.05).Meanwhile,GS group significantly decreased aspartate aminotransferase levels(P<0.0001),alanine aminotransferase levels(P<0.05)and creatine kinase levels(P<0.001)and significantly increased creatinine levels(P<0.05)in exercise subjects compared with Placebo group.Conclusion:Jilin ginseng powder can be used to reduce the risk of exercise-induced muscle damage in eccentric exercise,improve the exercise performance of female college students,and accelerate the recovery process after exercise fatigue in women undergoing centrifugation-related muscle activity.
