| This translation report is based on the forth chapter of A Research on the Development Mode of the Targeted Poverty Alleviation and the Effect of Poverty Reduction in Tongliao City,which is the Major English Translation Project about China’s Poverty Alleviation Series Think Tank Report of Shaanxi Federation of Social Sciences Circles(SFSSC)in 2020.In this chapter of this material,it mainly elaborates on the relevant work of e-commerce-assisted poverty alleviation and the targeted poverty alleviation modes in Tongliao city,the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region,which includes the general situation,courses,current situation and the relevant achievements,ect.of the e-commerce development in Tongliao city,the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.This material serves as a useful exploration and practice about publicizing China’s poverty alleviation experiences and spreading the Chinese voice.Translating this text can provide some valuable experiences about the e-commerce poverty alleviation for other regions and countries.Besides,considering the source text belongs to informative text,the information must be conveyed faithfully during the translation and the feelings of the target readers must be paid attention to.Thus,the Functional Equivalence Theory of the American linguist Eugene Nida was selected to guide the translation practice.This translation practice report contains six chapters:chapter one is about the task description,including the background and characteristics of the source text,as well as the objectives and significance of the translation practice report.Besides,the whole structure of this translation practice report is also introduced in this part.In the second chapter,the translation process description is given,which includes the pre-translation work,the translation procedures and the post-translation issues.In the third chapter,the translation theory used in the practice report is presented and the applicability of this translation theory in translation practice report is analyzed.And in the fourth chapter,the translation difficulties encountered are classified into three types,namely,the inaccurate translation of words,the inappropriate transformation of sentences and the violation of cohesion and coherence.Besides,these difficulties are analyzed by means of several typical examples.In the next chapter,the corresponding solutions are presented and discussed to cope with the difficulties encountered under the Functional Equivalence Theory.For example,literal translation with explanations is employed to deal with the translation of Numerical Abbreviations;free translation is adopted to cope with the translation of words with Chinese or local features;omission is used to translate the category words;adding subjects or voice conversion is taken to translate the non-subject sentences;the methods of cutting,conversing and combining are adopted to render long and complex sentences;reference,substitution and conjunction are adopted to deal with the problem of cohesion,and so forth.In the last chapter,a summary is given to this translation practice report,which includes the major useful experiences and the profound reflections during the translation. |
