In 1970s a new figure appears in the Chinese poetry world – Bei Dao(1949 –present).His poems are filled with extensive sense of social responsibility,strong self-consciousness and humanism.During the Cultural revolution Bei Dao had close contacts with Beijing cultural salons and poets of Baiyangdian poetry group.Through this connection he get access to popular among educated youth so called“Yellow books” – books limited to designed groups of readers inside party.These books included Yevtushenko’s “Babi Yar” and Miezelaitis’ “Man”.In this period of art hunger these books in certain degree influenced Bei Dao’s writing.This paper is divided into 6 parts,namely introduction,four chapters of main body and summary.The introduction analyzes the existing studies of influence of Soviet Union literature to modern Chinese poetry and finds that the research still lacks of comprehensiveness and literary variation studies.The first chapter introduces Bei Dao interaction with the poets of Baiyangdian poetry group and Beijing cultural salons,as well as his contacts with Soviet Union literature.This chapter gives a brief introduction to the biography of Soviet Union poets(Yevtushenko and Miezelaitis)and explains the meaning of literary variation studies in comparative literature.The second chapter analyzes the characteristics of Yevtushenko and Miezelaitis’ writing style,including their content(themes)and form(rhyme,repletion,etc.)aspects,highlights the most representative characteristics.This chapter summarizes the influence of these two poets to other Soviet Union poets.The third chapter use the comparative literature method of literary variation studies in to analyze the Chinese translation of Yevtushenko and Miezelaitis’ works,that were included into Yellow books,and changes in the comparison with the original works.The forth chapter compares Bei Dao,Yevtushenko and Miezelaitis’ poetry,and through this comparison explores which of characteristics left after translation reflected in Bei Dao’s poetry,discusses the reasons of it.This chapter also compares the influence of these two Soviet Union poets in their country and in China.At last,the summery reviews the influence of Yevtushenko and Miezelaitis to Bei Dao’s poetry and gives brief introduction to possible future development of the theme.
