| ZhiYi(538-598)was an eminent monk from the late Chen Dynasty to the early Sui Dynasty in the Southern Dynasty.He was known as master sage and master Tiantai.He was the actual founder of China’s Tiantai Sect.ZhiYi’s unique Buddhist thought and practice theory have a great influence on the history of Chinese Buddhism.His works have established the traditional interpretation norms of Chinese Tiantai Sect,the most important of which are known as the "three parts of Tiantai",namely the Xuanyi of Fahua Sutra,the Wenju of Fahua Sutra and Mohe Zhiguan;As well as the Xuanyi of Guanyin,the YiShu of the Guanyin,the Xuanyi of the golden light Sutra,the Wenju of the golden light Sutra and the YiShu of the Wuliangshoufojin,which are known as the "five small parts of Tiantai".Guanyin Xuanyi,as an important work of Tiantai Sect,is widely discussed in the academic circles.It is the thought of "Buddha-nature evil" proclaimed by ZhiYi.For the proposition of "Buddha-nature evil",it is "Buddha-nature includes good and evil".However,from the perspective of practical practice,ZhiYi emphasizes the side of "evil in nature".In his view,Buddha nature is not only good but also evil,which undoubtedly breaks the traditional Buddhist view that "Buddha nature is self purification".ZhiYi’s "worry is Bodhi",which is derived from the thought of "evil nature",believes that worry is not only an obstacle to becoming a Buddha,but also a convenient way to become a Buddha.This has a far-reaching impact on the ideological development of Chinese Buddhism after the Sui and Tang Dynasties,such as the "lay Buddhism" of the late Ming Dynasty,the "human Buddhism" of the modern Taixu master,and even the modern "human Buddhism".Their emphasis on the "spirit of entering the world" is the same as the "theory of becoming Buddha after entering the world"advocated by the "evil nature" thought of Tiantai Sect.The focus and innovation of this paper is to further improve the research on the thought of "Buddha-nature evil" in Guanyin Xuanyi from the perspective of "combination of ontology and application" and interpretation of the text of Guanyin Xuanyi.The paper is divided into six parts.The first chapter introduces the research background and purpose,and summarizes the research results of Guanyin Xuanyi in the academic circle.The second chapter studies the content and translation of Fahua Jing and Pumenpin,and analyzes the text structure of Guanyin Xuanyi,focusing on the "five layers of Xuanyi" in Guanyin Xuanyi.The third chapter analyzes the relationship between Buddha-nature and Buddha-nature’s function,that is,the relationship between the reality of "reality" and "three causes of Buddha nature".Tiantai Sect takes "reality" as the Buddha nature and is the "ontology" of Buddha nature,which is the basis and core of ZhiYi’s whole Buddhist theory.As far as the "function"of Buddha nature is concerned,ZhiYi believes that there are three aspects,namely zhengyin,yuanyin and liaoyin.Therefore,the term "three Buddha nature" represents the "application" of Buddha nature.However,when it comes to the "three causes of Buddha nature",the subject corresponding to the relationship between ontology and application will change,in which"Zhengyin" is the ontology and "Yuanliaoyin" are the application.The fourth chapter analyzes the relationship between Buddha-nature’s function and Cultivate virtue,that is,the relationship between zhengyin and yuanliaoyin.Among them,it mainly takes the five questions and answers of "Liaojian yuanliao" as the text to explain,and discusses the theory of becoming a Buddha and practice in Guanyin Xuanyi.The fifth chapter first compares the advantages and disadvantages between "Ti Yong"and "Ti Xiang Yong",and then finds the meaning of "Ti Xiang Yong" in the thought of"Buddha-nature evil".Finally,it summarizes the body use relationship in the thought of"Buddha-nature evil",and extends the thinking of "Self cultivation of all sentient beings and Bodhisattva salvation" and "opening power and showing reality" from the ontology and application relationship. |
